Hello everyone.
Just got my CDL a couple weeks ago. Graduated from Roadmaster in Oklahoma City. Last week I had orientation for Swift's flatbed division in Phoenix. (I know, I know. Let's just say "options were limited" and leave it at that.) Anyway, I did my orientation and my couple days of "tie-down class" and now I'm sitting around the house waiting on a trainer to come available.
I've been lurking around for about a month, have learned a lot, and really want to say thanks. I've found a lot of valuable information here. Hopefully, soon enough I'll be able to add to the site, for now though I'm really more in the position of needing to listen and learn, not talk. Truthfully, I'd probably not have even made an account at this point other than it seemed to me like I really should be marking "thanks" on some of the great posts I've read.
Not much else to say other than I'm getting a little stir crazy waiting around the house to get the call about a trainer, so I'll just close with thanks again, and hope to see you guys on the road out there.

Welcome aboard! Glad you joined us. Lots of great people here.
As far as swift goes, check out Oldnewbie's thread and of course Texas Nana's threads. Both are with swift and can answer questions.Tim D Thanks this. -
Thanks guys. I appreciate the welcome.
Umm... quick question, how do I "thank" people on posts? I had guessed it was a button that would show up once I registered but it seems not, at least if it is I've been struck by a sudden case of blindness or one of my bouts of stupidity because I don't find it. -
Nothing wrong with being new. Ask questions, you'll probably ask something others need to ask too so you'll be helping that way by drawing out answers from experienced drivers.
I do a lot of listening and leech off of everything I can that is relevant to me. So go for it! See ya out on the road. I almost have my class A
Tim D Thanks this. -
Welcome aboard, congratulations and best of luck to you!

On the bottom right of each post is a button with a thumbs up that says thanks on it. It won't be on the bottom of your posts.Tim D Thanks this.

Thanks Lilbit. Haha, I swear that wasn't there the other day. Hmm, must have been blindness. Better than stupidity though. And thank you for the welcomes form everyone, Mastertech, Lilbit, Tree, Bullhaulerswife, Remrie, and Gears. I appreciate it guys.
People say if you have a question that ten other people have the same question. And I have no doubt that it's usually better to ask than to learn the hard way. I wouldn't really call it "leeching" though, just being attentive and trying to learn all you can. The better prepared you are the better off you'll be.
Good luck getting your license, hope to see you out there.
