I may be in my 30's but I'm immature

I'm a newb to the forum myself, but welcome

Lived in Germany when I was young, from '84-'89, in Hanau…don't remember much, would love to get back someday to visit

Wow...that's amazing with the hours. Guess we really can't complain with the hours we have in the US...even if they are getting stricter.

I lived in England for many years, and have seen the effect of the Eastern Europe "invasion" too!
Most trucks I see there are from Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, its rare to see English companies anymore.
And I am sure many run illegally, over their hours and with badly maintained trucks, but there does not seem to be much the English traffic cops can do.
We used to see more English trucks, Stobart mostly, and also the Benelux companies like Willie Betz and Dessetrangle (sp?)
    But not anymore.

But welcome, looking forward to reading more about your travels in Europe!

    Hallo Mark,
Von wo kommen sie her? Fuer wem faehrst du dan? Was fuer LKW faerhrst du? Please excuse the grammatical mistakes. I am a lot better speaking than writing in German. My wife is from Huenfeld, in Hessen, I lived there for the better part of 6 years until they closed the base in Fulda. My brother-in-law is a part time truck driver for a company in Huenfeld and works full time in an office job close to downtown Huenfeld. If you are from that area maybe we can get together later this year as my wife and I will be coming for a 50th birthday of the previously mentioned brother -in-law. I look forward to sharing more information with you in the future.

    Hello Marc,

What type of truck(s) do you drive in your neck of the woods? I've seen some videos on the Cab-over trucks in Europe. They appear to be a pretty safe truck. Not sure how the ride would be in comparison to the conventional trucks we have here in the States or the roominess if one were to live in it for many weeks at a time. I guess it would be hard to compare unless one has experienced both worlds.

Razor3, the big boys in Europe manufacture wise are Mercedes and MAN. I've ridden in both the Mercedes I rode in with my Brother-in-law was a sweet ride, only a single bunk but it was automatic and had a few other extras like a fridge that pulled out like a drawer from under the bunk. Cell phone use is illegal in a moving vehicle, at least in Germany, and the last time I talked with Paul they were trying to make CB's illegal as well. The are governed at 55 mph or 90 Kmh and must stay in the right lane only in many areas on the autobahn. When I go back next I'll try to get more information about the regulations that I can share with everyone on here. old and broken
