    Thank you.

UPDATE: Wal-Mart will call me back next week about a face-to-face interview. Meanwhile, a staffing agency here in Rogers will talk to me Monday. UP on 10/30 in KC. Also, since I put my resume on Monster, Guess who sent me an Email???

    Dear Mr **********************

We would like to consider you for the position of Night Dispatcher here at USA Truck in Van Bur.....MESSAGE DELETED. :biggrin_2559:

If it weren't for the fact I have to work at JBHT for a year before making an internal transfer, I'd be a dispatcher for us already!!!

Believe it or not, Since this thread was started, the recruiter who posted it doesn't work for us, a number of other recruiters have left, even one of the Recruiter Managers, Mr. **** left! He was actually a good guy. Left to go work at the offices of Central States MFG in Lowell.

You're right. If TR keeps going, we might have a decent time in the office. Either that, or JBHT will raise Rates (another plus) and it'll be back to the daily war that is is everyday.

Mr Dude, have you heard anything about J.B. maybe getting out of the OTR thing down the road either completely or toning it way down and concentrating more on intermodel stuff? I have heard these rumors lately (not from drivers) and wondering if you have heard anything.

Since joining the site, there's been a number of misconceptions about that, let me see if I can clear it up, or try to explain it to you like our managers explained to us:

These other companies aren't direct competitors. So saying that I were to hire for both JBHT and say USA Truck would be incorrect. Think of things that aren't Box and aren't Intermodal.

    Reefer
Tanker (gas companies, Food grade, etc)
Flatbed (Lumber, Steel, etc, although we already have a number of lumber and steel stuff)
Compressed Gas Tanker (Oxidizers, liquified gases, etc)
    Autoracks
HeavyHaul (CAT Tractors, John Deeres, etc)

I know i'm omitting some, but that's the basic of it. It's in no way connected to us, aside from the call-outs.

The Rumors have strength. Case in Point: We in the recruiting division were recently advised to slow down the recruiting for OTR in places where we have Intermodal Openings. Some Home Center Locations have been taken off the Available posts (such as Davenport, IA, Port Huron, MI, Elmira, NY to name a few.) That, and more Intermodal Ramp locations have opened, and current needs for Chicago-area intermodal drivers have recently increased. like a City in the Midwest (Chicago Region of Intermodal Division) such as Indianapolis for example. Where the old drivers needed # was say 15, it's now 30.

The rails are gonna come back, like it or not.

Carnegie invested tons of money in British businesses before World War I, and he was an elite. When all hell broke loose, the US just stood on the sidelines waiting to see what would happen at first. When it looked like Britain might NOT win, the USA jumped in. The USA could've jumped in two years earlier, but nope. Only when the outcome became in doubt did the doughboys go to Europe to join the fray. Carnegie's investments were not going to fall into German hands.

Warren Buffet has lately invested tons of money in the railroads, and he's an elite. Elites have the power to get what they want. And Berkshire will very soon want to see nice returns on its investments in the rails. This shouldn't be problem. 90-dollar-per-barrel prices for black gold will no doubt see it does, as will Hillary's win next year and the green wave she will bring (because the elites want it that way).

Anyone who has investments in the rails, or anywhere else, would want to see nice returns. Granted Ol' Warren will probably make a ton of $$ with the growth of the rails, as will other people. But do you think he dont have all his eggs in a single basket for a reason

The point is none of his eggs are in trucking, at least not directly. Berkshire hasn't invested anything substantial anywhere in the trucking industry, save for areas that serve the rails directly. I don't think Berkshire has bought any trucking companies or substantial shares in trucking companies of late. Maybe this is because he sees writing on certain walls that's in awfully big letters--letters that read BNSF, Chessie, and Norfolk-Southern.

CSX is getting to be a bad holding here real soon. See, not only do I work for JBHT, I've been a railfan as long as I can remember. CSX has a knack for having s***ty track repair record (Go to Youtube and type in Bad rail at Schwab Road) and the NTSB is launching an investigation into them and other railroads. In my experience, the last major western rail disasters i can remember were old UP trains that had faulty Emergency Brakes going down Cajon Pass in California, and that was the early 90s. Heck, I'd go so far as to say that JBHT avoids CSX (most CSX Vids I see on Youtube are sans JBHT Containers) it's usually Norfolk Southern. Mostly in the Western half of the US we run on BNSF. Goes to a lot of places that UP is surprisingly short on, like the Twin Cities MN, KC, Seattle, Portland, Memphis.
