I guess when our recruiter kept telling us Top Gun with a package that sounded so familiar from my research (I have screened about 200 companies), but I just couldn't put my finger on it... Then the orientation package comes from JB Hunt... Ok, I find that a little misleading.Top Gun and JB had exactly the same benefits/pay rate/terminals... need I go on?
I was trying not to be so suspiciousbecause I did find the Top Gun company in the MidWest and saw that the were a real company-the website looked hinkey to me. Bad Tom Cruise karma. Then JB is calling wanting to know when we are coming for orientation?
:smt067Not happy campers to say the least...

You'd better go ahead and call up JoBHunt and ask to be put on the "do no pester" list. They'll be calling you every other week in the future if you don't. They may bug you every other day.
-
Yea, if a driver is scheduled for an orientation, then opts out, his/her number goes to the TOP OF THE CALL LIST, since you showed some interest.
If you are called again, request for the DNC List. -
Hey Mr Dude, just a dumb question... what was it like working for them on the office side? What was your experience with them like?
-
My managers were excellent, unless you were underneath the threshhold of Hiring Average to stay employed, which is 1.5 per week, or 3 every 2 weeks. However, with the recent drop in turnover (and from what I heard, it was a heavy drop) it's been kinda hard to keep it up. Myself, I wasn't much affected, since I mainly hire for Dedicated accounts, instead of OTR/Reg/JBI (Intermodal)
I sit at a Double Cubicle, a long desk with 2 computers for 2 people. Then we have lunch (a few vendors come by during the week and sell us lunch there, or we can drive around Lowell/Rogers/Springdale/etc. One time I saw my manager in Bentonville)
More or less, for 8 hours a day I make outbound calls. then take some inbound calls. 80% of the time, I get Disconnected Numbers or Answering Machines. -
Thanks Mr Dude. Sounds like your new career will be more exciting! Good luck!

I know no other trucking company that has to hide there name in order to employe truckers. There are staffing agencies that work on behalf of otherr trucking companies but the fact still remains that that they don't hide the company name. It's sad that a person will stay with a company and to lower ones self-esteam to get a pay-check.

My husband was perfectly happy at Werner, had a good dispatcher, lots of miles. The one thing they lacked was pay at .21 per mile, he wasn't earning anything and working his butt off.
Well I started searching for other companies for him, and JB Hunt seemed like they paid really well for someone that didn't have a lot of experience. So we settled on them, they have turned out to be the worst employment experience I have ever participated in. From humiliating drivers over the Qualcom for goofing, to just plain lying or not caring. I have never seen been involved with a company that just treated their employees like dirt.
At first I was thinking this was a thread for a bunch of whiny brats, well I guess I have joined that club.
JB Hunt is the worst and has just about given him a nervous breakdown. -
Use statistics.
Of every driver out there, ask who:
1. Blogs?
2. Blogs HERE?
3. Blogs here about JobHunt?
I'm sure you've watched election-night coverage given by the news on the idiot tube, right? And I'm sure you've noticed that at times they will 'call' certain elections when only about 3% of the vote is in? Yeah, you've seen it. They use statistics to be able to do that. Sometimes they're wrong, but in the great majority of cases, they're right on.
Now. How does this apply to this site? Again--statistics. Assume 1 driver in 5 blogs. Assume 1 driver in 10 of THOSE comes to this site. Assume 1 driver in maybe 3 actually posts. That's 1 driver in 5 x 10 x 3, or about 1 in 150, who comes here and blogs. And of those who blog, the far majority who post anything about JobHunt post negative things about that company. This tells you a lot. It tells you that you can 'call' Jobber a bad outfit, just like Dan Rather can call an election when only 3% of the vote is in. Using stats and the posts you see here, you can predict what JobHunt is really like. Using statistics, I'd predict one wants no part of JobHunt based only on what I read here. Would I be right? Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps those who blog about Jobber are the spurned ones, the ones who've been done wrong. However, we have to also consider those who've been spurned who don't blog. Until we get an idea of what this number is, I'd say one would be advised to stay away from JobHunt. -
guarantee they won't call me. i just put them on hold and eventually they get the hint. saves me time and energy from telling them no and i don't have to listen to the lies.
