Hello Everyone. My name is Scott, I am an instructor for a truck driver training school in Lansing, Mi. I have joined this forum to see if I can assist the newbies out here looking at truck driver training in Michigan. I have been an instructor for 6 years and a driver for 22 years. I have driven everthing from dry van to hauling heavy equipment. I will be unbiased in any advice you want about trucking companies hiring students, and truck driving schools in michigan. There are way to many so called "CDL mills" out there that promis the world to perspective students and then dont pay up in the end. A CDL mill is a school that is more interested in the number of students they can put into a class, rather than the quality of the training. On the other hand there are many schools that want to teach you safety above anything else, and get you home safe to your family when the day is done. P.S. A message to the moderators here, I am not or will not advertise my school to the general forum, my intentions are just to give UNBIASED advice to anyone that seek's it. Thanks for your consideration.

knightstale65 here, first welcome to forum! now for your advise being in northern Michigan seems not much opportunity for newbies,i have my class A CDL from Baker College of Cadillac graduated 07/17/2007 just no experience ,i kept my factoy job till laid off in 2009,seems no one wants to hire out of this area, northern michigan, put in applications to all the companies that advertise to hire inexperienced drivers only one to show interest is CR England which seems to have very bad reputation-only one to actually call me! Here is my situation what should i do to get out on road? thanks for your input

Hello Knight,, First off since you have not driven in a couple of years, or if Im reading this correctly not driven a CDL A job, period, since graduation from Baker, you will not find anyone that will hire you unless you do a refresher coarse. I would go back to Baker and ask if they will give you an evaluation and maybe a refresher coarse to get you employable. Once you have done this you should be able to get work with US Express, Roehl Transport (Pronounced "Rail") CR England, Accually a friend of mine has worked for CR England and loved it there.
