Hello! About me? I am not new to trucking, although I am not a driver, my life has always been around drivers. My Dad was a truck driver an now my husband and son are both drivers. My husband hauls furniture and my son hauls steel. They both are company drivers, but we are hoping to open our own company this year. Wish us good luck. I know it isn't going to be easy and we won't be making money hand over fist, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta due. Does anyone out have any good advice for us while we are working through the beginnings of this? I was on the phone the other day with an insurance man trying to get a quote from him and he just kept saying "Don't do it!" I finally got off the phone with him and crossed him right off my list. We are OODIA members and they have been very helpful, not just with this but also with other things that have happened to my drivers. Ooops, I hope that isn't considered as advertisement. If it is, I am sorry. As you probably figured, I am not a youngin'. I am over 50 and in April I will get my Associate Degree in Business Administration, I think that will help us. But the problem with being married to and the Mother of truck drivers is that it gets lonely. We don't have many friends as he works a lot. Is there any other wifes, etc in the Kalamazoo or Battle Creek area that just want to hang out. You know, go to lunch or something? I am so bored.
Thanks for having this forum that truckers and wifes, etc. can communicate with each other. Karin
