Hi all I'm from Philly and am considering getting into trucking and need some advice. I'm currently an unemployed IBEW member of an outside local, we do linework and my classification is groundhand/winch truck operator.
I have only worked two months this year and the work outlook for us looks really bad. We are being told that work may not pick up until after the elections are over. I'm tired of being out of work and since I have a Class A CDL with air brakes Im thinking about trucking but unsure. I do not have any experience driving a tractor-trailer but I do have lots of experience driving dump trucks and towing a trailer with a backhoe on it. At this point I don't know where someone in my situation would begin so any advice is appreciated. TIA

I'm in the Philly area and think there would be plenty of work for dump trucks and stuff. You should check out Anderson in port Richmond. They do asphalt paving. They have red trucks there by the allegheny exit. There's another dump outfit up by academy too with black truck the name starts with a D can't remember it right now.
