Hey everyone, just wanna introduce myself here. I currently run cars and other rolling stock between San Diego and the Bay Area / Sacramento. I'm an active duty US Marine a year away from retirement, so I'm going through all the growing pains now while I still have good income coming in every 1st and 15th of the month. Got my CDL through a program on base back in Jan 2011 (Troops2Truckers) and have been busy running cars & RV's around. Got my authority last November after I returned from Afghanistan and pay insurance every month just so I can run about 2 weekends a month up north and do local stuff otherwise. I do enjoy driving, but it can it can get lonely, even on those 2-3 days out (I know I shouldn't complain!) and when I have break downs there's no boss or dispatcher to call and tell them to bring me another tractor. So I'm still trying to decide if I really want to continue as an O/O, go with a local compnay, or do something totally different- heck I'm a helicopter mech in the Marines but have no ambition to do that. Thanks for having me onboard and I hope to learn alot!
Danny

Do you have any endorsements? There's a good company in your area where you can make $62K - $70'sK per year if you have tanker endorsements. A&R Transport is the company. If you decide to stay in trucking, get passport & TWIC to better your opportunities for better pay.
I've done the helicopter mechanic thing for a while in the Navy, went to school in Memphis. Petroleum Helicopters in LA was recruiting us for our civilian days, to work with the oil rigs out in the Gulf. They always seemed to need mechanics and aircrew. I was both mechanic and SAR aircrew. I wasn't interested though. Some of my friends did it and made big bucks.
Anyway, you have another good career ahead of you. -
Hey Truckon, nice to see a familiar face

Chinatown, yes I have all endorsements except passenger- I don't wanna deal with a bunch of screaming kids or a bus full of flea ridden meth heads LOL. I see AR trucks alot, they have a blue cab, and the AR is done up in a gold ribbon right? As far as a passport- I could get one but I'm not loloking to go OTR- about 2-3 days out is all I really want to do, but things may change- that remains to be seen. And like you, I too don't care to stay in aviation. I'm gonna stick it out and hope this O/O deal works out because I like keeping my money, but it's always nice to have a backup plan.
