I graduated from Western Pacific truck school in 2003 and drove for Central Refrigerated for 6mos. I'm interested in being a trucker again trying to see what options I have if any but considering reapplying with Central Refrigerated. I did get a local offer to drive a class B dump truck that I probably should take but I kinda want to prowl the road again.

I'm 31yrs old this month with a slightly better head on my shoulders by now ready to be a career trucker just like my grandpa and his brother. Where should I apply? I understand I need to get some experience under my belt but it would be nice to get on with a decent company that I could possibly stay with for a while.

Also if I did take that dump truck job will CLASS A companies honor the Class B dump truck job for driving experience? I don't mind driving dump truck at all I just don't like some of the owner's family.

    thanks,

    Dave

Welcome to TTR Dave. OTR companies go back the past three years for your experience level. Only Class A OTR counts in that time frame. At least 5 states atmost companies. Even class A local doesn't count. So in other words, they would look at you with zero experience.

But they would consider your past experience and offer you to take a refresher course and go back out with a trainer. It all depends on the company and trainer. You might be out with a trainer 3-6 weeks.

Companies like Watkins-Shepherd require no experience.

You know what to expect since you have 6 months. You pretty much have to do that again.

Driving dump is fun if they run year round. You do live in a good area, so company choices are better. The forum has alot of good info. Feel free to ask any questions!
