If he has it and is being treated he is fine for being hired... He will need to present the proper documentation, from the doctor who is treating him, to the Prime doctor... and then he should be fine...
Even if he is being treated for sleep apnea he still has to be below the BMI index of 39.... as far as I know.

-

Wow, I had heard Prime was getting very picky about who they hire, but I had no idea they had started cracking down that much.
I drove for them for a little over two years, quit driving for them in March '07, and they said nothing about that in my orientation.
I certainly wouldn't have passed then, because I'm shorter and to put it nicely, chunky, lol.
Don't get discouraged, you will find the company that is right for you, just take your time and do lots of research.
Oh and don't feel bad, I left them on very good terms with an excellent record as both a solo and team driver to complete a semester of college and when I re-applied they turned me down. -
If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. but are "under current and effective treatment" documented by your treating physician.. with a copy of a use compliance data download from your CPAP machine..... Prime better hire you.. or they better give you what specific reasons other than having sleep apnea they are not hiring you for.
Sleep apnea is a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. ADA prohibits discrimination in hiriing for persons with disabilities. It require employers to make reasonable accomodations for persons with disabilities.. things like wiring an invertor in your truck for powering a CPAP.
If you get a run around from any company not wanting to hire you beacause you have sleep apnea. and you meet all the requirements I laid out above.
You need to file an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint. The forms are on line.. and easy to fill out..... been there done that......
If you want help... send me a PM... glad to help because companies make drivers with sleep apnea jump through so many hoops drivers won't get tested or get the treatment for sleep apnea they need.
One way to fight the problem.. is file complaints EVERY time a company discriminates against a driver with sleep apnea. -
Maybe your the one who needs the help... with your reading comprehension.
I posted what Prime's was going to require from someone diagnosed with Sleep Apnea not more than a week ago on this very thread... If it is being treated and the proper documentation is presented then it wont preclude one from being hired.
Prime will not hire you if the doctor suspects you have un-diagnosed or untreated sleep apnea...
As far as CURRANT drivers, Prime already has a sleep study clinic on site in Springfield and trearment options for drivers who fit the description as a likely sleep apnea sufferer... at a discount too.
As I see you like playing the victim card.... At some point the prospective driver has to take responsibility for their own level of health. Its not Prime responsibility to treat a PROSPECTIVE drivers ailments just so he can get in the door. -
Well i wonder whats bader my Fatting or Sleep Apnea?
-
thats crazy i never heard any thing like that be for and i think thats ###### up

Yeah the bmi thing kinda sucks, but I understand why they are doing it, they want healthy drivers, it helps keep insurence cheaper. I'm heading to springfeild monday, a little worried about the bmi I'm 6'6 and 330 puts me right on the line, trying to drop a few lbs before I leave, I'd like to not have to worry. Good luck all hope it works out.
