Need a truck driving job? Prime Inc. is one of the fastest growing Refrigerated, Flatbed, and Tanker carriers in the business! Come grow with Prime! CDL Training is available, Prime wants you!
Once your application is approved you will then be scheduled for Prime's 3-day new-hire orientation.
After you have completed your orientation, you will spend 4 to 6 months with a quality selected driver trainer/lease operator in our refrigerated division. During this time, your trainer will work with you to perfect your driving skills and teach you how to become a profitable lease operator.
Prime is willing to advance all students $200 per week in the first 30 days (which will be removed from future weekly pay checks at $25 increments), during this time a student will have already acquired their CDL Class A permit during the 3 day orientation. Then $600 per week or 12 cents per mile will be paid to the student for the remainder of the training, once their Class A CDL has been obtained.
During your training period, you can expect to be out four to six weeks at a time. Once you become a solo company driver expect to be out 2 to 3 weeks at a time (depending upon where you live), with a day off for every week you are out. Once eligible to become a lease operator, you will then be able to set your own schedule for getting back home. The $200 per week advance is available during your training for the first 3 weeks if you are in Prime's school. The $600 or 12 CPM is then paid to the student through the remainder of the training process, which is approximately three months minimum up to 6 months in length.
You will be asked to sign an operating agreement. Due to the high cost of recruiting and training entry level driver associates, Prime requires that you work for them for at least one year from the date which you are first dispatched.
The average Prime lease operator will spend four to six weeks on the road at a time. Lease operators determine their own home time policy and the longer they stay out on the road, generally the more money they are able to make.
As a Prime driver associate, you can live anywhere in the United States and hand pick your own truck. Spouses or passengers are allowed after your training period is complete.

I have applied to Prime and a few other companies, worked for NCDOC for 16 yrs and going back into trucking after 18 years. I used to work for a moving company. I now live on the east coast of NC. Is this a decent place to live and work for Prime? I am about 45 min east of I95. Is there much hiring from this area? And would any home time include an act of congress to get this far east? Thank you for all of your input.

Are you going flatbed or reefer? If your going flatbed we pull freight from charlotte, and deliver Frieght there quite often. To answer your question it should not take an act of congress to get you home. All you have to do is talk with your fleet manager and they will get you home. Prime is a great company and I will be here for long time.

i havent decided on what i would be going into yet. whatever is easier to get into and placed and whatever pays better. I will take what is available now. Worry about choice later. I was just asking because i wasnt sure if they were hiring in this area and being far enough away from I95 didnt know how they would arrange hometime after i get to go solo.

well, I think I have made my choice. Thank you for all of the input in these forums. I have put in an online application and spoke to Danielle in recruiting. Faxed some paperwork to her to verify employment as I have been on disability from my State job for over a year, finally ready to get back to work. Hope they accept the paperwork I have sent them. I know they dont take anyone who has been unemployed for a certain amount of time but as I have been on disability I think that doesnt count and I should be ok. She was supposed to have an answer for me by 1 today but the person she is waiting to approve application was not there today. I was told to call back tomorrow by noon. I hope all goes well and application gets approved. She said if all goes well she could have me headed towards springmo by next week. I look forward to meeting some of you on the road and maybe be lucky enough to get one of you as a instructor/trainer.
