Thought I would stop in and say hello to everyone. I am new to the forum found it the other day while searching company possibilities. I have 2 years OTR and almost a year flat bed experience with a local company. I havent been in a truck in almost 3 years (due to a pre-exisiting back injury that resulted in surgery) which is apparently going to be a problem in trying to get back on the road. I have already found some great information and had quite a few laughs reading over the forum.

Hey Fireman! Welcome to the forum! This really is a good place to get good information. You'll see some bad info too but I'm sure you'll do like most folks and just ignore it. Keep enjoying yourself and good luck as you venture back into trucking!Baack and Diesel_Smurf Thank this.

Hi fireman nice to meet you
Glad you found us. Good luck with trying to get back into a truck and otr. I am sure you probably would need a doctors release for your back stating you would be able to drive a commercial vehicle with no restrictions to be able to get back into it. Or whatever your doctor feels comfortable giving you, see what companies out there have the equipment and are willing to work with you on. I know Swift has automatic trucks if that helps in anyway. So does Marten. Good luck and looking forward to getting to know you on the boards!!

Thanks Smurf, As for my back all is well know, I had a pretty bad crash in a race car that caused some damage to a disc in my lumbar which resulted in surgery (I just put it off as long as I could) nothing work related. I don't think i would have any problems getting back in a truck due to the fact that I have been working locally as a paramedic for that past 2 1/2 years (the heaqviest tarps in the world cant hold a light to some of the 400lb + people we pick up on a stretcher)and I am just ready to get back on the road(crazy i know right). Anyways thanks to everyone for the welcome and look forward to talking with all of you. I am always looking to learn something.

oh wow! Darlin you aren't gonna have any trouble lol. You just aren't gonna like that you are gonna have to go back out with a trainer for a few weeks first....I know i know, but you haven't been in the seat a while and most companies to save their butts is gonna make ya go with a trainer for a few first, just to make sure you didn't forget how to lolfireman5606, kickin chicken, JustSonny and 1 other person Thank this.

Well I hope I don't have too much trouble...so far I have been searching for a company to go with or I should say to try to go with. I do have a wife and little girl so the hometime will be somewhat considered, but my wife knows how happy I was when on the road and is very supportive. I have also noticed since I left the industry alot and I do mean ALOT of stuff has changed. Alot of companies have been bought out or merged, alot of regs have changed (no surpirse there), and it seems alot more companies are going to E logs. Oh well I do have a stable job right now, so I will do a lot of research before I jump and run into anything. I am open to suggestions from anyone on companies that may consider me for employeement. I am also open to any info from anyone in a similar situation as myself on their experiences with companies etc.. Thanks again.
