    Hello TR members! I would like to get into the trucking industry. From central Arkansas area. I have always wanted to be on the road working and like 18 wheelers (never driven one tho). Drove tankers in the Army for 5 years (3 years in Europe). Would someday like to get into a good tanker company. Right now just wanna get my CDL and get with a decent OTR company. I hear guys dogging this career but most seem like whinners or just couldnt handle the lifestyle. I know it wont be a piece of cake and wont be 9-5. I know there wont be much of a home life. Guess not everyone understands that. Anyways, just wanted to say to introduce myself.

    The good money is tankers. Prime has their own CDL school & a tanker division. If you go to a private school, Schneider will also hire you for tankers. After 12-24 months you can be making over $60K annually with a tanker/hazmat company.

    Thanks Chinatown. Didnt know companies hire newbies to drive tankers. Dupre seems like a good company but want experience.

    Most tanker companies advertise,they want experienced drivers, but apply anyway. Many new drivers on this forum have snagged good tanker jobs right out of CDL school.
