I have been getting interested into the trucking idea for awhile. Years ago it was an idea that I pushed away as I did other things. Eventually I went to college, and it didn't work out. Sometimes things do not. Been a driver for most of my life, pizza, courier, taxi, shuttle, and once a limo. It's what I do, something I enjoy doing, however I think it's time to bite the bullet (just had a daughter) and get my class A, and eat poop for the first six months of learning time. Figure the longer I put it off, the longer I will still have to do it. Giving the state of the economy the days of earning in the high 20's delivering pizza are now gone. Time to move on.

I have a few people I am close to who drive otr for a living, well one just went local the other is a flatbed (which is where I am leaning). I listen to what they say since they are the ones that have 10 or more years doing it, but I am also one of those people who tends to over-research anything I do (or purchase).

I like this place, perhaps will stay awhile.

    Go Tigers.

So I filled out for the WIA funding yesterday, have an orientation on Sept 19th that will determine if I can get it funded. Failing that I will attend a school with company reimburstment. Do not want to leave my family but they must be provided for as most here will surely understand.

    Excited and nervous.

Had my interview class today, finally got around to setting up a printer I got 8 months ago to print out the resume. Turning it in, in the morning. Then work till they call me.

Clemson Tigers, and it's Braves country down here (I did live in Mn at one point though)

Yeah it did, we had a ton of account orders back in the day. Schools, businesses etc. Taking $5-700 day in sales and getting paid hourly, tips and a 7% commission adds up. But then again gas wasn't as bad and people are cutting back on extravagance, like pizza. Do that 4 days a week on a 12 hr shift and its easy to walk about with $250-400 week cash during football season, plus a $400 check every two weeks. So yeah high 20s. Those days are past I am afraid. Only thing was you had to basically live there on the weekends and know how to route and get crap done.
