Drivers Legal Plan has beat every ticket I've ever had when I used them. We got into a disagreement over the last one and I dropped them, but I'll tell you how they do it. They basically call the prosecutor and say, "yeah, he did it. He has a CDL and this will hurt him career-wise. You'll probably never see him again, so if your willing to give him a non-moving violation, he'w willing to pay three times what the speeding ticket would have cost him."
I got a major CDL violation in 08, tailgating. It was a $80 ticket but I got fired immediately and couldnt get a job until it was resolved. A month later, I called the prosecutor, plead guilty to defective brakes,(non-moving violation), got a $320 fine. Paid it and was back driving truck a few days later.
Help! 2nd ticket

well then since you gave us this info, why pay for a "service" when we can do this on our own..........??
i'd recommend a personal phone call or a written letter to the DA's office and go from there.
but what i'd REALLY recommend is that the o/p SLOW THE HECK DOWN........... -
This may not be any more valid that trucker gossip, but when I was talking to the safety manager at Bestway he said he was at a safety conference and spoke with a safety guy from JB who said 45% of JB's inspections with a speeding violation associated come from Indiana. So they do try harder in Indiana.

All good advise... and there's a lawyer who writes for the trucker magazine. Get a copy from the T.S. and get defended.
And the big thing........ no load, shipper, dispatcher or anything else is worth speeding for.
Like they said....the job is next and 80 points is the number most carriers are using for employment. -
All states have companies they single out and watch more.
Our company gets pulled over 40% more in IA and NE. -
Two words -
Cruise Control
Don't set it more than 5 over
Note - Some trucks are programmed to get full power under cruise (so less shifting). Also you will find it easier to hit your fuel bonus marks using the cruise.
Note - I have 1 radar ticket for 15+ over and it is a 2 point ticket and it has kept me from getting work. He cannot afford to loose his job until he finds another and gets insurance approval. I was literally stepping into the cab on one job, the ins co. the truck was leased to declined coverage. Had I quit a job for that one I would have been in a real pickle. Ins Co calls 15+mph over reckless driving. (even if it is in BFE) -
I notice you are a wannabe.
Just thought to pass on to you it is not just the insurance companies that consider that speed bad.
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/cdl/cdl.htm
Speeding excessively, involving any speed of 24.1 kmph (15 mph) or more above the posted speed limit. -
SCREW A PRE PAID PLAN!!
Just contact the court.
Ask the clerk if they can reccomend a lawyer.
If not then go on line and look one up in that county.
Just DO NOT PAY THE TICKET!
A lawyer will tell you his costs and the most that the court will charge you BUT he'll try his best to get the charges reduced to something less. Thats what his job is. You'll send him a check before he does anything then when it's all cut and dried he'll send any differences in cost and all your paper work you need.
You'll have plead not guilty, gotten the ticket done AND you don't even have to show up!
As for pre paid legal services? Why waste the money! If you pay into one for years and never use them what do you have to show for it? And that BS where a rep will tell you that that sticker on your window or that hat with their logo on it makes a cop turn around and leave is just that. BULL! Some even offer you a membership into a big box store or some discounted coupons to a steak house!
You're out here to make money not put it into these peoples pocket as they are doing the same thing as you but not working as hard as you are for your money!
