I'm glad this thread helped you make your decision. It sounds like you made the right decision for yourself and your family at this time.

Your time and miles may be tracked by QualCom. However, to get paid, most companies that I know of require you to submit the trip pack envelop. It will contain your paper logs if you have them, but most importantly, it will contain your bills of lading, and any expenses you have that need to be reimbursed.

The company definitely will want "proof of delivery in good order," so that THEY can get paid for the load. And if you want to get your expenses back, ie tolls or anything else you have paid out of pocket that the company will reimburse you on, they need to have that paper work first.

A word to the wise; before putting those receipts for expenses in your trip pack envelop, MAKE A COPY and keep with your own paperwork until you have been reimbursed. It shouldn't be necessary to keep a copy of your bills of lading, but it wouldn't hurt anything if you did. It can get to be a bit of an expense though, and you can "bury yourself in paperwork," if you don't keep your files up to date.

I don't know if you are pulling folks chains, or if you really HAVE found a sweet deal. But isn't it better to be prepared for the worst, than to go into it with rose colored glasses on and get hit with a bucket of schidt?

Many of the endorsements fees are per year, and if your CDL is good for 8 years you pay the endorsement fee for all 8 at once, which adds up.

I think my CDL with tank, hazmat and double/triple cost $168.00, PLUS the $89 for the Hazmat fingerprint/background check.

Then another $103 for the TWIC card if you want that.

Hazmat is only good for 5 years btw.

    Endorsements are no big deal.

You can get them as you need them..........

No need to have them up front, and no, they do NOT increase your chances of being hired.

Not everybody is gonna haul triples loaded with hazmat, get real.

I disagree. They may not guarantee a job, but they do open up more doors as far as what type of company a potential driver can look for work at.
