    No. Careless is not reckless.
But if you thought that was the case I can see why you want to fight everyone.

But do yourself a favor: Call the police authority who wrote the ticket. Not the 911 number, the one in the phone book. Tell them you have a question about your ticket and ask them what the difference between reckless and careless is. Then decide what to do.

I'm fairly sure in MN Careless driving is a called a Gross Misdemeanor. It's a serious offense. I've known a person who spent 10 weekends in jail over one of these. (I think, it was 25 years ago after all.) I'm not a full time trucker, just a farmer. But, if I were you I would at least talk to a lawyer before you decide what to do. Many lawyers will give you a half hour free, or cheap, consultation. Then you can make up your mind.

I'm not familiar with Florida traffic laws, but in most states, private property accidents are not reportable unless it involved personal injuries and/or substantial property damage. If neither is not the case, the scene officer cannot issue a traffic citation. Keep in mind, Florida law may differ if a commerical vehicle is involved.

However, the accident victim can request that an accident report be submitted for insurance purpose, which usually requires the officer to complete a "non-investigative" accident report.

I suggest you contact any Florida state law enforcement officer for clarification of the law, prior to contacting an attorney.

Yes, they can. If the owner wishes, he calls the police and they ticket the offender for anything - illegal parking, trespassing, etc.
