Protip: Don't let anyone inside your brand new radio. Buy some eBay junk of you want to let someone play around inside a radio. At least you'll have a factory radio to compare against the magic one.

Actually I think it works out to the benefit of us and others that maybe seeking info about prime when these particular folks you speak of come in and post. It gives me the opportunity to post some info about prime, and those seeking it the opportunity to hear from someone with years of actual experience with the company. I think anyone reading is capable of deciding for themselves what career choices suit them best, regardless of what prime may rhyme with. So I welcome these particular folks as we work for a company that is good enough that its isn't hard to defend.

In 2011 when I was looking to get into trucking my 1st stop to make inquiries was a local cdl school. The local school charged $2, 500 cash, or I was told they wave the fee if I signed a 1yr contract with their partner companies, Swift, and May. Going this route Swift would pay me 20cpm :( or the guy told me while smiling like the crook that he was I could get a really good deal with May at 25cpm (prime paid 38cpm at the time plus fuel bonus). He almost talked me into signing right there gave me a pretty good salesman speel and I didn't know any better at the time. I later went to work here got free training and made probably 20 grand more my first year than I would have with May. Its always irked me the way some carriers take advantage of the new people.

I retired from Prime, so I guess I don't know anything about Prime and how they run things.

In order to pay yourself you need to have start up Capitol. You are just starting out so you won't have that. It will take some time saving to get to that point. You will have some good weeks and some bad weeks. There are some weeks you will go in the negative. I run my business by the quarter now to see how I am doing. I have been with Prime now for 4 years and am completing my first and last lease. Why my last?

I have decided to buy my truck. After talking with Success Leasing (Prime) and doing research on other trucks Sucess is giving me a great deal on the truck.
This increases my revenue by $250.00 per week.
Plus I know this truck and know that there is nothing wrong with it.

Why only $250.00 per week? Shouldn't it be approx the truck payment?

No I am buying the truck. So I will still have a truck payment for 2 years. It is $250.00 less per week than what the lease payment was.

So basically you know a guy who knows a guy who heard about a guy who's uncle's brother's nephew's cousin's son's former roommate drives for prime as a lease operator, and he only gets less than $700.00 a week...

To the OP, remember there are a number of trolls in this forum. They like to give bad information and steer people wrong.

Me, I'm a lease operator with prime.

Yes I have had time when I was "in the hole" ( usually right after taking home time.

When it comes to paying yourself, I do the same. I pay myself $800.00 a week from my LLC account.

I have a separate bank account for my LLC.

I know it is not all roses and chocolate hearts out there. Thank required will be bad weeks. But now I dont have a lot to worry about for bills. When I finally get wife on the truck we have decided it will be for 3 or 4 months at a time. Go home couple days to see grandkid then go again. And yes we plan on a day here cople there when we need a break. Cause staying in a truck that long will drive you crazy.
We have been researching, reading these forums, watching YouTube videoes and talking to other drivers for a couple of years. Prime just seems like a good fit.
Are we completely prepared for everything? No. If you think about it who ever is. I wassnt prepared for us having kids but I learnd along the way and we raised 3 amazing young women.
There is always the thought in the back of my mind that we may fail. But with us on the same page and help from the ones on here that I can tell are trying to help (yes I can weed out b/s, might not be real smart but got common sense) ond help from others that I know we gave as good a shot at making it work as anyone.
