Wow that is horrible, I hate hearing about drivers getting hosed like that. There is plenty of freight out there, especially with you being on the east coast. I live in Phx and my company keeps me midwest and east for that reason. You shouldn't have any trouble getting on with a decent company that will up your miles and pay.
HELP!! Anyone who knows this business!

Abilene Motor Express in Richmond,VA is a decent company and also has fast trucks @72 mph. A couple of their female drivers post on here sometimes and really like the company.
K&B Transportation has a guaranteed minimum weekly paycheck of $1125.00 so if you're in the hiring area check them. Require 6 mos experience, so you're good there.
Freymiller is one of the best refrigerated carriers out there with top notch equipment.
Magnum Ltd. already mentioned.
Tyson Foods drivers post good paychecks.Last edited: Jul 30, 2017

OP, are you on Indeed.com? Fill up a resume form there. Make it public. I get phone calls almost daily from recruiters from all over the country. Good luck!

You guys are awesome! I have read so many responses to other threads and became apprehensive about posting at all. Some of the responses are brutal! I understand though, some of the posts are ridiculous! U drivers have made this girl feel right at home! Thank you for all the great suggestions. None of your responses ended up being any of those companies who blew my phone up......which tells me those are the companies that i need to look into.
The ones who blow ur phone up are the ones to stay far away from! If i havent learned anything at all (and i have) its to stay as far away from them as possible!Lonesome, Lepton1 and VolvoTerry Thank this. -

Busch in Williamsburg might have something in the beer side.
Norfolk is the military and container base, Im pretty sure you can find something.
Regarding living on a budget.. it's about eating a little bit twice a day but not a whole lot and maintaining your fluids more than anything. I think we did 20 bucks a day at most. which isnt very much against retail but if you had the ability to get bulk out of a store and maintain it it will be cheaper. That was how we did ours.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Fill out the online job applications with the companies I listed and you'll probably have 5 job offers in a few hours or less. Many time you get a phone call and a job offer before you finish the applications, so it's a good idea to put them in the priority you like best and submit them in that order. This way you don't have to be hesitant when you get that first job offer.

Yes there are brutal responses on here. There are some real jerks on here. There are some people on here, (the vast majority,) who honestly want to help a person out, if they can. But we are all human, and sometimes a lot of us will either post with an angry response, or the old "posting while drunk" bit. And we get a few trolls. They usually show up on a Friday night or a Saturday, make a few asinine posts and either get locked off, or give up and go back to their coloring crayons. (Eating them, not coloring with them.)
In any case, never be afraid to ask a serious question on here. You may not like all the responses, but for the most part, a legitimate question will receive a legitimate answer. Or more likely several conflicting but still legitimate answers.
I just don't want to see you fail to ask a question, because you think it may be a stupid one. If you are genuinely searching for knowledge, there are no stupid questions.A21CAV, Lonesome, Broke Down 69 and 4 others Thank this.
