I walked into my commissioning physical a hale and healthy man. I walked out deaf, blind and unfit for service. Strangely, I was subsequently commissioned and served until retirement.

Just because some weirdo managed to get a medical license it doesn't mean he isn't an idiot. Get another physical from a different clinic and carry on.

I agree 100%. I have seen with my 2 blue eyes some idiots serving as Medical Examiners. However be careful with doctor shopping. The FMCSA does watch for multiple physicals especially one after a failure or a limited card was issued. << NOT a myth!

    TaterWagon#62 Thanks this.

Go to your drivers license office. Tell them you want to self certify your medical. They give you a form and your mark the box "Excepted Intrastate". You will not be able to drive a truck ( except at listed on the form) but your CDL will not be downgraded. Hopefully, it hasn't been fully downgraded to a C yet. Do this tomorrow.

I went to cvs minute clinic, Doctor there said i just need a letter from prescriber stating I will no longer be taking medication and stopped taking a month ago. Doctor at cvs says I should be all set pending receiving letter for new exam. I just hope the doctor doesn't make a problem with dot like he said he would

To disqualify an otherwise healthy individual over an irrelevant oversight is NOT what was paid for. If the medical examiner doesn't find anything during the examination or subsequent "followup" checking into of the person's medical history that would deem that person medically unqualified to drive, then it is NOT their place to start making things up just because they feel like denying the card. If I'm healthy and there is no valid reason for you to deny me the 2 year card, and you refuse to issue it, then I'm under no obligation to pay for the service that was not rendered. I'm not paying the medical examiner to make up the rules as he goes, but to follow the rules that are in place. Without a valid reason to deny the certification, I'm going to refuse payment...ESPECIALLY when you start making threats that will potentially end my ability to earn a living by attempting to make it difficult for anyone else to certify me WHEN THERE WAS NO VALID REASON to deny the certification in the first place. If the medication in question would not DQ the driver if he were taking it, and the condition that medication is supposed to be treating would not DQ the driver whether he was taking the meds or not, then it is irrelevant to the driver's fitness to drive a CMV. Me being me, I'd also likely file complaints with the medical review board as well as with the FMCSA, as well as looking into other options...yelp, bbb, etc. You don't get to make up the rules, and if you want to try to make it difficult for me to earn a living, I'll do what I can to hurt your business as well. After all, if I can't work, I've got nothing but time.

I agree 100%. However I can remember no physical I ever took where I paid afterward. I always had to pay up front. The only exception was company paid physicals and an old family doc many years ago that let me pay as I could afford to.

Sheesh to think yesterday I was bummed over paying a guy $95 to hold my nut sack.

    Pic related.

Lucky this guy didn't, which saved me some dignity there.

Also, I'm in Indiana, they sent me a letter telling me to renew and to do it 3-5 days before expiration because if not the day after expiration equals no cdl.

That's why I said in my first post, if paid by check call the bank and place a stop payment on it, and if paid with a charge card contest the charge. You paid for a service that wasn't provided despite no real reason for it not being done. If there was a legitimate reason for the failure to issue the card, that's one thing...but if you're denying me for irrelevant and inconsequential reasons, I'll do everything I can to not only refuse payment but also to trash your reputation and discourage anyone else from attempting to walk through your doors.

I only get bummed if the doctor wants me to hold his nut sack.
