    Hate message coming up.

i really HATE when someone asks for help, and they put forth minimal effort to help themselves.

where are you located? Got a family? House? Dog? Are you willing to relocate?

The dump truck gig...did everything go well with that? I know what you mean about it being seasonal. Must have been a 1-2 truck operation. There's almost always a need for grain haulers and bullhaulers. It's work, and it can get you $1200-1600 a week. Construction companies will have so many drivers get DUIs that they will hire people who don't even have a commercial license. There's always the oil fields,

fair enough, still learning here. to answer your questions. i'm in johnson city, ny. no family, house or dog, and unless i can get help with relocation expenses, cant afford to. the dum truck gig has 50 or 60 tri axls, with about 10 dump trailers, i was laid off at the end of the season, but it was made very clear to me during my employment from both the other drivers and the truck boss that they didnt want me there, in fact was told several times by the truck boss the only reason i was there was as a favor. as for the oil fields, i dont even know where to start to look to find the positions available for beginners. all postings i've seen for the oil fields are looking for 1+ years of experience. and by help i'm not looking for someone to give me a job i'm looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

OK...since you seem to be really looking for a hand-up..not a hand-out.....I'll give this a go-round. In the area you live...I would try and get on with a local beverage company , or maybe a food service distributor. I'm sure that at least 1 or 2 have a location near you in Tn. (let Google be your friend)...Good Luck in your search. Sorry to be so harsh to start with...but we see this on a regular basis...some folks always want something for nothing...

thanks, wrong johnson city though. johnson city NY. and i have tried both food distributers. one i cant get ahold of, the other has sent back an email saying i dont match their qualifications. i have also tried various construction dump truck companies in the area. one of them the truck boss is always out at some site or another.

i understand. other people have used and abused the system, and usually by the time that i try to get some help, its too late. i prefer being able to get jobs, awards, etc.. based on my own abilities not on someone else's word. it really makes it meaningless if its someone elses laurels that i rest on.

Get out there and talk to those folks local to you...sitting down in front of a man is always the best way to land a job. Let them know you are ready for the opportunity , if they will only allow it. Good Luck to you.
