some companies will take a driver with 6mo exp. (unless PTL defines his team driving as training and not solo.....)

wow, how long do you expect him to be stuck with the felon? at this point, just stickin it out may be the way to go. 15K miles in 8 weeks isn't too good for a SOLO driver.

Here's another example that my idea of adding another endorsement to the CDL for Driver Trainer is needed. What kind of training could two new students get? At least with a controlled Driver Trainer program the new drivers would come out better than they are today. And when I say controlled I mean the company would need to be checked periodically to ensure they have a sound driver trainer program in use. And the driver trainers would be paid more all the time for their expertise.

I would require that the driver trainer have at least 10 years of safe driving and provide them with training materials so they could provide a top notch training session. We all know that most CDL schools are only there to get the students their CDL's and really provide no safety or knowledge beyond the DMV.

I'm a stern believer in safety and taking care of the equipment but maybe I got that way because I hauled gasoline for so many years.

My husband applied at PTL and thankfully got another job before they called him back. (I have read a lot of not so good things about them on here) UNfortunately the company that hired him with no OTR experience and sent him out with NO trainer. He's had a rough 4 weeks to say the least, so I know what you are saying about losing your sanity!!! Now he is scared to death (thanks to a mistakes) and is wondering if driving is even for him. I wish he could have gotten in somewhere with a trainer, even for a few weeks....
