If you can l move to Darlington SC, There is a company there that will put you in a truck at 33 cents per mile. and you will do your resets at their terminal. They also have a terminal in Tenn so that is closer to you if you would move there.
Ard Transportation. I have worked for Carolina Cargo three different times since 2006. If you are a smoker then you will not have the issues I had being a non smoker that got stuck with a smoker. they are don't have the benefits that ARD has nor will you make 33 cents a mile ever nor become a solo driver. They both have e logs. you can find them on their website and find out what town in Tenn it is.

My trainer at western express had a eight year old felony theft conviction. He stole rims. He was able to get hired on by them. He also told me before he was working at western express he was running log trucks so some.of those backwoods job like gravel and what not will probably give you a chance. Good luck

Joe, I was at the CDL school today when Christy from Carolina Cargo gave her recruiting spiel to the class. From the get-go she made it clear they offered second chances to drivers nobody else wants. She is also enough of a realist to admit that drivers stick around long enough to get experience and then move on. They are small (100 trucks) consisting of Freightliner, International and Peterbilt auto-shifts and ten-speeds. They have ordered 15 more. Oldest trucks date back to 2004.

Orientation is three days; on the following Monday you hit the road as a team and start earning a paycheck. That may be a plus for those who can't afford days/weeks of unpaid orientation elsewhere. To say their pay structure is unique would be an understatement. Base pay is 10¢ a mile, with the chance to bump it up, contingent upon incentives such as timely arrivals, safety, fuel conservation, etc. They have paperless logs and use Peoplenet satellite communication.

Carolina Cargo is not going to be on most drivers' preferred company lists but for those in a "unique" situation it could be a lifeline. Hope this helps.

Not to high jack this thread but I find myself in a similar position as a felon or feeling like one now. I got a speeding ticket back in november 2012 8 points which has since fallen off my driving record in NY but the violation is staying there until 11/15 most places I call say nope insurance will not take me until 3 years past so it looks like I have to sit maybe a year and half before coming back to trucking.. what do u guys think? Any hope?

We do what we have to do ! That .10 cpm is for all dispatched miles whether you're driving or sleeping.
It's easy for the naysayers to blast a company or driver when they aren't walking in their shoes.

10¢/mi is still poverty wages even on team miles.

$500/week, subtract taxes and Unaffordable Care, and you're at less than $250. For being away from home all week.

You can do better than that working at McDonald's.
