Some where in the back of the garage, anyway I think it is there I haven't looked in years, is a CB. So old it is only 23 channels. Years ago (in my car) I was not of the chatter so I gave up. I am not going to hunt. I have a cell phone.

Glad to know Ryder is good.

If I take an ipod aren't headphones illegal? I don't have speakers for it.

Dash board screws have gone to them. If you get an air leak behind the panel....... Some of the sensor boxes have them as well. I carry them just like I carry screwdrivers.

Driver it's a rental. You don't work on them. Get ph#s ect. from the Rental shop. Ask questions. Flat tires, fuel places, cards, ect. Mechanics ph#. Walmart supervisor for this job, ect. Have a support base for your transportation job. Less headaches and makes you look organized and efficient. They don't care what went wrong they just want it fixed yesterday. This opp. could have a future for you if you handle it right. Good luck.

What size trucks? What size trailers? What type of operators license do you have? Some of this has me wondering.

I agree major repairs are and should be the domain of the rental company. However waiting 2+ hours for someone to repair an airline I can do in 15 minutes is ludicrous.

Even if my repair only gets me to a shop, at least I'm not sitting on the side of some highway waiting for Ma and Pa Kettle coming home from Bingo or Billy Big Rigger that's making time to plow me:biggrin_2555:

You took the words out of my mouth, although I do carry a small tool bag and I am local and trucks are leased through Penske. One of those stanley brand scewdrivers with interchangable bits, channellock, adjustable wrench. duct tape, zipties, etc.. If it is small repair and I can rig it up and take it to Penske later I am doing it. Always have that rental agreement in the truck, check the date of the next inspection, look over that truck very carefully point stuff out to them make sure it is noted on paperwork. And as far as using tractor for personel use on weekends, I guess you would need to check that out,you will be driving all week, have you ever bob-tailed before?, I would rather walk, or is there masstransit around, many trains offer weekend rates i.e ride all you want for 15 bucks all weekend. Hope this helps, good luck, stay safe, and as Okiedokie said, this could turn into a great chance for you.

Agree about small fix it jobs. The less you drive that truck the better. Say some hic hits you off duty in the bobtail and it's still a accident. Sorry about the name calling. A hic is anyone that has a low driving skill level and a disrespectful attitude. Ok so that's about 60-80% of people behind the wheel.
