this is my point to the letter!!!! if you run off the load boards, and DONT take the time to talk to these shippers the only one your hurting is your self!!!!!! if they say no , say ok. drop them a card as you walk out the door ,thank you for your time!!! the'll keep the card and somewhere down the line you will get a call:biggrin_25525:

    You forgot to add....
Blame that O/O with that new rig....Obviously he "stole" it unfairly from the dealer......Because how can anyone run at these "rates" and have a new rig? :biggrin_25526:

GUNPOINT- YEAH, YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS

    THANKS FOR THE ADVISE

(" Also if a shipper uses one broker and that broker finds out you're trying to bypass them don't expect to ever haul out of there again.")

WE REALLY DIDN'T KNOW THAT ONE.

Optimus Prime, do you mind if I ask what kind of operation you run? How many trucks/trailers, what types of trailers, how long you've been in operation, etc..Maybe most importantly, how long have you been looking for your own freight on the open market(load boards)?

I had two loads (For a "Three Pointer") offered to me today by the broker whose load I ran from Bellingham, WA to Phoenix, AZ......I got good rate from that load.....

The first load was was pick up in Tucson to Durango (570 miles with 120 mile DH from Phoenix to Tucson)....then DH to Denver (336 miles) to get a load to Long Beach, CA (1031 miles)......I offered to do both loads for $3K Which not counting the first DH, would average $1.50/M.....
Broker told me that it was "Too strong" and he couldn't do it for that....I told him thank you and he did the same.....I suppose some bottom-feeder did the loads for under $2K.........

The key is to know your operating costs and run loads to at least the B.E.P. or "Break Even Point".....The B.E.P. includes Paying Yourself A Salary!!!!!!

So you don't have any first-hand experience with freight brokers?
