first of all taxes would not be on the total amount you bring in.
taxes are paid after all the expenses.

cost of permits... not to sure what your looking at but i pay no more than 2000 for the year for all my permits for all 48 states

" OPTIMUS PRIME " Thanks this.

Why do people have a problem with what a broker makes?

Say they get a load that pays $3k for 1000 miles.....
You call the broker and he offers you $2K....Is he "ripping you off" by taking 1/3 and giving you the remaining 2/3?

It's a fact that there are many Tarped lumber loads for under a buck a mile....I have seen steel coils from Fontana to Portland for $.86/M......

I don't take any of those loads...but somebody is....and that "somebody' is why there are brokers who will take 2/3 or more of a load....

But think of it this way.......Would you rather pay $2/g for fuel or $5/g?

If the broker can find someone to yank a load for less than a buck a mile...it's not the broker's fault.......
if you are so smart, why the hell are you a truck driver.....
I THOUGHT you wanted and appreciated all input.........that was obviously a BULL SHEET statement on your part.......

Go back to your first post about the subject.

You don't want help or input.....you just want to belly ache about brokers that are supposedly taking advantage of you.

There's already a thread for that.

By the way......I drive a truck because it's something I like to do that pays me very well and it's NOT an office or manufacturing job.

Is being dumber than a box of rocks a requirement for getting a CDL in your home town??????? Inquiring minds want to know.

It sound like you have chosen grocery as your mainstay. That kind of makes sense because no matter what, people have to eat.

Keep in mind that grocery is probably the tightest locked down segment of our industry and also the most corrupt. Until I got into hauling food, I had no idea the scams and ripoffs involved. The driver is not allowed on the dock to count freight in many cases, but is required to sign the paperwork otherwise and rely on the dock workers to get it right. If there's a mistake, the driver is held responsible. This corruption follows the load all the way to its final destination, where you are told either hire the lumper or do it yourself. But if you do it yourself, you are not allowed to use the pallet jack and you have a half hour to unload your 40K meat load. And the lumper? $280...there are three of them working your trailer with electric pallet jacks and they get three hours to get it done.

Hauling grocery as a complete independent may appear lucrative at first glance. But personally? I wouldn't touch a food load with my worst enemy's rig unless I had the cover of a brokerage or company. But that's just me.

I truly wish you success. I would like nothing more than for you to come back next year and rub my nose in it. I will be your biggest cheerleader if you do well, even pop the champagne corks for you. But please go into this with your eyes open.
