NOT! If you do start, stay for at least a year! 3 months will have the next company you apply to wonder how long you'll stay there! You're getting screwed already with the one you started with and the next will be the same as you have no experience so they will screw you as well! Might as well get screwed by one instead of 2 and not be called "easy"

I would HIGHLY advise you to READ the posts about every one of those companies you talked about! There isn't a one of them very highly rated in this forum! Even Warner! And DO NOT FALL FOR THE FLEECE! You're a rookie! What would you know after training about "owing" (chuckle) a truck and how to run that kind of business? You think that trainer will give you all the information experience will give you?

Just do the company driver thing, give it a year with the 1st and then reevaluate your route in life later!

If you guys stay on the phone or use the computer to find a job all you will get are companies that can not hold on to their drivers. A good company does not need to advertise or use recruiters. Think about it. I would download a list of trucking companies in my area and weed through the list and then if possible go see them. Get out and find the companies that you want to work for. You never know unless you try but if you stay with a recruiter or the computer you will limit your search and always wonder.

Try everything but do it in order. Don't start with the bad companies first if you can avoid it. I always wanted to find the job that paid the best and met my needs the best. I found it after a few years of driving wit the lousy companies. But I stayed with them until a better one opened up and I never used a computer to find the next job. So it's up to you if you want to find your dream job or work for the bottom feeders forever. Get out and go look.

The only problem about working at any burger place is you have to wait for someone to freaking quit or die these days! People are actually holding on to jobs like crazy! Here in Springfield MO., I go and look at the job postings sites even the state and almost every job being listed now is either in the medical field or some other high degree job! And the smaller jobs like working for a quick lube you fight over 500 applicants for each and everyone of the jobs! Even WalMart is swamped! Go figure!
BUT I think 32 years of experience will get me something soon as long as it's not a fleece! I hope....hello...recruiters...do you REALLY want a trainee?......I'm available!

Gas hauler; You are right. In my area I did make a list. I did go by there to say HI!. There is May Trucking here. They are not hiring. Con way not hiring. Greatwide don't hiring. There is a lot of smaller companies here. Some what two years exp. driving interstate in the last 3 years. Other just want to make to next years and lay off. One company here call Evergreen about two months age laided off 100 drivers in one day. Its bad. Good luck to everyone.

Oh no , Mickey D's isn't that bad . You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to be qualified to be a trainee there .

when you put it like that. This sounds pretty stupid. I spent $ 5075.00 for school. $80.00 for cdls. $120.00 for hazmat. 100.00 for twic card. Just to qualified for a company trainee. That has to work for low wages until training complete and 1 year exp. To be truck driver. To make 35,000.00 to 40,000.00 a year. How much does a manager make at mcd's. May be i'll sign up.

I've seen a couple of good gas haulers give a new driver a chance. You never know unless you try.
