By the way, I made it safely to the bottom of that mountain.
I was in 4th gear and everytime it got to around 2500 rpm I would slow it down to under 2000. That would keep me just below 20 mph. I was just worried about losing air pressure and heating up the brakes.Milkman719 Thanks this. -

Raiderfanatic and Boy Howdey Thank this.

What date was the truck assembled?
If it is an Aquarius then you are about average.
Virgo, it needs to be scheduled strictly.
Sagittarius, find another driver.
Mikeeeew.h.o, postmandav, Giggles the Original and 2 others Thank this. -

UCLA did a study years back.
Extended Light pressing of the brake is more effective than the stab 5 mph method.
2000 rpm is fine 2500 rpm is pushing it.
Jakes are most effective at 1800 rpm+ ish
Its in the manual.
And I see you have a towstar with an exhaust brake?
That's a dangerous truck in mountains.
Junk
A deathtrap.
Double down on your downshift.
Go one more than you think you'll need.
That thing is junk.
Great riding truck... But just a complete junker. -
People have made huge windows in blocks doing 2500rpm jakes. No way I'd ever jake over 2000. But hey I'm not a company driver, so I assume 2500 is okay then
