    The point that seems to be missed by many here is the context in which the "stab braking technique" that is mentioned in the FL CDL manual has NOTHING to do with descending mountain grades, but rather is used in the section "emergency stopping"

    I've been trucking in the West for 15 years with no Jake or engine brake for most of those years, and I stab brake, never had one issue.
