Maybe he's right? I know Cemex or any of the other companies won't let you in the door without a CDL A.

And Cemex had without question the most strict medical exam in trucking.

You took your physical at a local major hospital, with a full on doctor.

I think we're both right, I know SRM in smryna Tn only required a Class B Cdl and was offering training to non cdl applicants. Many people I knew that worked there had class B's to drive a mixer, and very few had A's, But if you drive a pump truck, It is required to have an A. So a more established company that uses both in its fleet would make sense that require an A. I think the company im familiar with just doesn't mind.
I apologize if I came off any type of way, I didn't mean to. I'm just frustrated at life.

Our place used to give the most ridiculous physical you’d ever imagine. Whole thing took over 2 hours. Hooked up to wires like the 6 million dollar man (remember that show?) around your chest and head. Stepping to a metronome. Stacking weights and jumping on boxes all while hooked up to a heart rate machine.

Totally silly. The majority, literally majority, of people that actually got hired would fail the physical 2 or 3 times. They’d give you a couple weeks to go “get in shape” and then try again.

If you actually passed the marathon, you had a nice 10 panel hair follicle test to go to. As you can imagine, we were pretty much always short handed even though we technically “hired” drivers, none of them ever actually got to start. Lol

We’ve since dropped all that crap and do a basic DOT physical and whiz quiz. Crazy how much money they wasted

I hauled bulk cement products in a pneumatic tanker and aggregate for Cemex. There were a lot of these running around in that area. Absolutely Class A, at least for this particular setup.

If you're doing massive high yardage pump jobs...industrial slabs, piers, pilings, or pre cast walls they're the way to go.
Not very much fun to do driveways and planters with though.

    Dan.S and motocross25 Thank this.
