Find out which of the 15 companies maintain a private database with Covenant Transport SEPARATE from DAC etc. Usually the majors. Those 15 now that you were dropped from Orientation and not hireable, will apply to those 15 companies as well. So they are out of the picture.

It would have gone easier if you did not catch a adult record of Robbery, some trucking companies will not take that kind of history to protect themselves in this industry. (It's old stuff, water under bridge etc but that will happen with a number of them)

The more recent history with the unpaid or whatever else will just have to be either taken care of and eventually dropped off your three year record or even a 5 year.

What to do then? Well, any number of what I refer to as dump truck type operations, small owners who generally cannot be bothered to go too deep into your history will take you on. Or you can keep looking around until you find a motor carrier able to take you on. That CDL is still worth it to you. Just need to look hard and wide for that one outfit that will put you on the road. It might be a while.

When they do, be very careful to be a good driver without damage or problems. Eventually after a year to two years or more you will have built for yourself a decent record and others will be more inclined to take you on.

Life is not easy sometimes but you seem to be making progress upwards. Make sure you keep a updated pile of documents ready to go at a moment's notice, usually your employment history (No time gaps, if you were like me a medical patient related or caregiving at times since eye surgery in 2009 with two more surgeries pending within a few weeks that would be what accounts for time. Just not necessarily employed and working like I was as a crew boss around CDL temps and trucks prior to 2009.)

    Good luck!

Plenty of companies will hire you; just a matter of applying to the right ones.
    Freymiller - excellent reefer outfit.
    Navajo Express
    May Trucking Company
    Western Express
    Southern Refrigerated Transport
Carolina Southern Inc. - High Point,NC
    Bottomley Enterprises - Ennice, NC
    TransAm
    Roadtex Transportation
Carolina Cargo Freight Expediters - Mount Airy,NC
Rusty Dog Express - Lebanon, TN
Trillium Staffing - is a staffing agency that hires cdl-A drivers.
Take the time to apply to all of these; then follow up with a phone call; "I'm checking on my job application."
The tickets are the biggest hurdle; not the felony.

Like posted earlier Carolina cargo but will probably team you up with someone else,Also you might try Carolina logistic, and J.R.Rothrock not sure if they will take someone right out of school. I would definitely try Mabe or everyone all they can say is no sooner or later you’ll hopefully run across a company willing to give you a shot.Try Craigslist in Greensboro.Good luck

I’m with Western Express. Been there 4 months. The Bloomington terminal is new(to WSXI) and the people there in Orientation are quite good by any standard. I’d highly recommend you PM me and I’ll give you some contact numbers and the recruiter I had. He didn’t lie to me. I can’t say you’d have the same good experience I’ve had, but I’m confident that talking to them wouldn’t be a waste of your time. Their pay is low but I get lots of miles which makes up for it and frankly I need miles to gain experience

FYI - I have a clean 10 year MVR, and no arrests or convictions. I know 1 driver who did serious time they hired. He’s doing well. Personally I chose them over the other local starter companies because of their attitude, terminal, equipment I saw, their rider policy, and location to my home on the central coast of California. Also I’m not a recruiter. Just a new driver who isn’t completely disenchanted or jaded....yet. lol

Seems that many new drivers will only go to large companies and look for work. But consider going to small places, where you can talk to the owner themself, and hand them your resume and driver abstract, then explain how they will see a few things that may cause concern, but you would like a chance to explain, and then that you have changed and would appreciate a chance to prove yourself and that you would do anything for a shot at working for them. I hired a few felons, but they didn't just drop off a resume or call me and that was all. They sat and we chatted. I do not regret hiring them, all are fantastic employees.
But at a huge place with 3000 employees your never going to get to talk to the person you need to hear you.

If I were in your shoes I'd give Western Express. They have a nickname of Convict Express for the reason that they do hire people with not the best records. Good luck in your search.

Good luck with your quest. You'll secure a job!
Up here its rare for company to request criminal background. Me only twice. Once for Royal Mail and for hauling explosives out of Quebec but that's a commie state anyhow. You can only imagine the banditos we got rolling down the highway around here.:D

@bradyr693 I do not know your name. Either you or another person was just recently sent home because of both a Robbery charge AND making terroristic threats as an element of said charge. Covenant has several customers that flatly REFUSE anybody on their property with these charges. I just finished a facebook conversation with the person that made that decision. Now I do not know if this was you and it no longer matters regardless. Also for the record making terroristic threats (CAN) prevent you from getting a TWIC card or hazmat endorsement.

If this person was you it was indeed the felony that got you. I could call my contact Monday and get more info, but at this point I don't think it would be productive.

The law they used against her is one brought here from England 100's of years ago. I don't understand why several countries still cling to the old English traditions and laws and some still worship the queen and use British logo on the flags. Doesn't make sense at all. Let go of mommy's apron strings and move on; at least, that's my opinion.
