Ok. Not sure how someone could capture DD freight with that. Thought I was missing out on something LOL.

I think one with wheels and space is pretty good, that's what my friend has.

You can easily get the flat to 48" deck height, 53' long. Your not capturing standard DD freight, just so e DDE freight. Most could be classified as SDE freight but their seems to be a lot more DDE around versus SDE so are agents typically post for both

It depends on the tire their running. SHC runs 24.5lp with his and I think he's at 44". Damsen said I could get to 46" deck height with a Lowmax and 22.5, allowing a tarp system and 9'6" cargo.

44" is a very low 5th wheel. Mine is 47.5 with 11r22.5 tires. If I went low profile I'd only lose half an inch. That's good information, that damsenables trailer looks like a good trailer.

You could go 255/70 and drop two inches. I think the loaded radius is around 17".

On the drives? Not toO worried about it to be honest, just a benefit to going with one of these trailers.

Just an option if you wanted to get lower. Most car haulers run 255/70 on their drives.

The load rating on a 255/70 is right around the 5500 pound range so you can overload them easily. That is one thing that a lot of people forget about when specing a trailer. Be sure to check the load ratings for the tires that you are putting on them.

    Here is my .02

i have ran ran into several drivers here at Landstar that are running a 53' flat. All had a closed tandem setup that slid. I asked them about weight issues and they said they don't ever have any problems running the closed setup. I guess they don't haul much heavy steel or lumber, but seems plausible to me. I've seen others that have both axles that will slide individually.
