I'm still Alive. Still driving. While I've been gone, I've sold my car. Made enough on it to basically eliminate our debt down to a insignificant amount. My days in this truck are numbered and they can't wind down fast enough. For those of you who enjoy this lifestyle, rock on. For me, this is by far the worst thing I've experienced in my life. If it wasn't for my daughter, I'd go back to being dirt poor in a heartbeat. There isn't even a thought process. For me, that's a preferable existence.

To put things in perspective, I've experienced some pretty terrible things in my life. Death/murder of mother. Death of almost every other close relative. Military service, growing up dirt poor and having to defend my 30 year old stihl weedeater from pill/meth/whatever kind of dope you can think of heads. Those I could deal with and accept. This truck though, it never goes away and I hate it. I hate everything to do with diesel.

Also, deff not suicidal. I'm too stubborn to die. But, if it ever came to that, rest assured I'll take some moron texting and driving out with me. Or maybe one of those idiots watching Netflix on their dash while driving...

Also, got struck by a Deer this morning. Fun times.

I still feel his pain. The OTR life ain't for everyone, me included. Got to a point where I was forced to abandon any sort of schedule outside of work, any sort of structured life. Had to hand my life over to the trucking gods. No Bueno for me

This job is all consuming. I'm not going to let it be any longer. I might use my degree to go be a DOT. I'm so bittered towards this industry, I think that I'd gain great satisfaction by joining the enemy.

Dirt poor Diesel Poor. Not much difference. There are Chicken Processing Jobs in Arkansas. As well as in the Corn Belt.

I didn't see any suicidal talk in Mr. @red70tvhs posting... He was venting about being tired of living in the truck and far from his family and young daughter. But was going to hang in there for a little longer in order to accomplish his goal. That kind of venting is pretty normal and we all go thru that from time to time.

Thanks... I may have missed some of that when I read the first time... All his following postings sounded less and less stressed... specially when he started writing about his race car passion and his plans for the future, and his family... It made me believe that he just needed a good venting and he wasn't a deranged person who was going to really kill himself...
Good to know he was able to move on with his plans and is making progress...

Every vehicle on the road. My company is excellent. My average length of hall is 2500 miles. I gross over 80k a year and they give me my way on everything without having to even make a fuss. I miss home. I hate living in a truck. I miss my daughter and wife. At times, I'd rather eat a bullet than drive one more mile. I constantly say I'm committing suicide one mile at a time. Going home more doesn't help. The paychecks are losing their luster. I've been at this krap for three years. I wasn't always this miserable. I have all the amenities in my truck. So, that can't be the problem. I run 4000+ miles a week. I get detention, layover, breakdown etc. Pretty much any valid reason for a driver to complain doesn't exist here. What is wrong with me? How can I make suffering through the next year a bit more bearable?

I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this. And hope you get better. Try to sign up a local at your company to help release. And also you’re just being burn out. Take a layback and focus on your family. Sorry that you hate living in a truck like this. Find a different company if they don’t do local. Good luck pal and prayers for you.
