Looked them up, found their ad on Indeed. Thank you. Will definitely check them out.

Well I've sent an application to them on Indeed, but I couldn't find any company named RCA LTD in or around Brooklyn. So I can't find their number and actually talk to someone. I just finished their little pre-qualification assessment test on Indeed. We'll see where it goes from here.

Meanwhile, I have 2 drug tests to do today for 2 separate companies. Also have to switch registration and plates from under my leased company to my self.

Called Landstar, got my info. Seems like it would be something I'd like to try - no payment for cargo insurance, massive discounts on fuel, but I have to buy that stupid ####ing Omnitracs tablet. Not lease it, outright buy it - $800!

The cord to connect it to your truck is like $140. Then if you pay to have it installed that’ll be about the same.

I kinda understand their stance though. Can you imagine buying thousands of those things and trying g to keep track of them when people come and go?

I mean yeah, there's bound to be some driver's who just steal the thing. But $800 for that crappy tablet! I've used Omnitracs when I worked at FedEx, absolutely hated that thing! It ran on Windows XP and was the slowest device I've ever used.

Regardless, the recruiter said it'll take about a month to get on the road with them at this time. So for now, Landstar is out of the question.

Sounds like others have you covered on suggestions. I just wanted to mention that paying $1,000 a month for cargo insurance is freekin highway robbery. That company is making a tidy profit charging drivers that kind of money for cargo insurance.

One of the companies I went to do a drug test for today, charges $300 week for cargo, so that's $1200 / month.

    So....I'm still open to suggestions

Last year was my first year in business as an O/O with my own authority. I paid $400 a month for $250,000 of cargo coverage. This year my broker found me another company that charges $250 a month for the same coverage. You should ask these places to see what they pay for cargo insurance, or get your own coverage.

Hmm, wait I can do that? Lease my truck to a company under their authority but get my own cargo insurance?

Not sure, but I sure would ask. My guess is that they make a lot of profit from gouging you, so their answer will be no.
