    Hello everyone,

I urgently need help starting my hotshot business. A bit about me: I'm from Germany and plan to start a hotshot business in the coming months because we love it here and don't want to leave. We're in the process of getting an investor visa.

    My question:
I've done some research but still need clarification.

What's the best setup for a truck under trailer? I'm interested in a dually, but they typically have a GVWR of 14,000 (down-rating is possible but complicated?). This leaves only 12,000 GVWR for the trailer, which seems insufficient. For non-CDL, they recommend 30-35ft, correct? Would you recommend against buying a dually? Also, how quickly can one expect to get orders? I've heard it could take 3-6 months after starting for orders from brokers, etc., to come in.

I'd appreciate any useful information. Thank you very much in advance.

    Best regards,
    Patrick

I would suggest you go to work for a hotshot company and learn the ropes. Then when the economy improves and you have experience and contacts, you can run the numbers and see if starting your own hotshot business makes sense.

I can tell by your post, you don't have enough experience to start your own business yet.

Multiple posts or a system hiccup? This is not the only one.

I'm from Germany and I can't just work for a company; I can only enter the USA with an investor visa, which requires me to start my own business.

Something went wrong with the upload, so I'll delete it from the other one and leave just one in there.

No, leave it alone. I'm working on the rest. You intentionally put those threads in various places on the forum, it wasn't just a glitch.

I understand that. So to be American blunt, don't do it. Not in this economy and not at this time. The only people I -know- who are making money are the ones that are leased on to companies and are running sprinter vans, team, otr.

    Blunt enough?
