no from the hold down bracket. there is a small flat spot on the hold down you measure from. there will always be a preload on the injector rocker of some sort. you shold never have a gap on the tapet end. if you didn't already know.

Yea I knew there would never be any gap. Just didn't know on the hold down. That helps a bunch.
-
good luck. the cat tool for injector height I always go half and half on the step at the end of the rod.
-
I'm looking at getting the actual tool. But need to set these immediately as I'm putting this motor back together from doing a short block and cam.
-
If I set the injector height with the lower step protruding slightly, will this negatively affect performance?
-
yes! you take the chance of bottoming out the plunger in the seat and ruining the injector.EverLuc Thanks this.

Aye,I didn't set them over but by about an eyelash. Gonna have to go in and check them again tonight as I have an actuator(not solenoid/no codes) in hole 5 that is acting out. Truck ran better naturally after valve adjustments. Thanks again.

I can't imagine that would bottom them out considering I took a spare core and measured where it actually bottomed out and was approx. .400 futher down
#1Superchicken and JimmyWells Thank this.
