    Thanks for the replies
Ended up deciding not to take it, cause this is the first time hauling on a step deck, and not worth the risk of any fines. The load was 43' long, 10.4' wide, 4.5 high, and 40klbs. So it would hang over on the end. It was a 600-700 mile run, Thurs - Friday. Paying $3100, still might have it actually... I was worried that even though it was a short run and could be made in a day, we would not be able to make it on time before the weekend and get stuck there. Guess i gotta do more homework if another load like this comes up!

Ha! It was a step. Good call @TripleSix. 5 ft of rear overhang on a 48 step......might want to check on this but I have a vague recollection of MD not allowing any rear overhang at all even with a permit.

A 600-700 mile over width load in that part of the country at this time of the year is optimistic to say the least. Alot of stress in that situation if there's a crane crew waiting for you.

Yeah. How much did you budget for permits.....~$600? If you were considering the load you must have had a route in mind.....what route were you going to request? 600 miles can turn into 750+ pretty quick sometimes.

You can permit the overhang. You can permit the width. The thing that you wouldn't be able to get around are the axle weight limits.

That load would be right on the edge.

Wouldn't you hate to load something and realize that theres nothing you can do to get it legal? Then youre stuck at a weigh station, permit voided, 'fixit' ticket (and you wouldn't be able to fix it...unless you repower or rent a flat and pay a crane to move it), purchase new permits.

5 a mile all in. Money loser...
Now here is why I say that.
Permits will be cheap and flat rate. But that ld might turn into a 3 day ordeal.
Then if ld on a Wednesday, guess who might get stuck with it until Monday.
Why maybe 3 days. Well depending on how fast you get lded. Then your permits. Then any curfew times and short days. I figure things worse case scenario.
