I was being a bit sarcastic. In the case of rocks flying out of a dump truck, I agree they are (and absolutely should be) responsible. the rocks are the truck’s cargo and it should be secured just like the cargo is secured on my flatbed. But the pos slob drivers are too lazy to unroll a built in tarp, so they just put a stupid sign on their tailgate saying they aren’t responsible for their cargo falling out of their truck and then proceed to drive like ########. ####ing lazy turds!
(Sorry, I have an immense hatred for dump truck drivers [but much respect for the few of them who do it right])
Help please. Ice from trailer cracked a car windshield.

I Have Not "heard" any more Info on Trailer Roof Ice "falling Onto Vehicles on Roads & Highways".
Seems it's a Non Issue.
I Never Was Able To Clean ANY ICE From Dry Van Roof.
That Was In The *Design Of The Overpasses* In Chicago And They Worked WELL!
The States That Claimed "It's Illegal To Haul Ice On Trailer Roofs" or some such blather are about as Important As Someone Sitting In Their Vehicle, At A Stop Sign, Waiting For The Red To Turn Green. (STOP never cycles GO)
*not true but sounds good*
I Agreed With MANY DRIVERS: Nature Put It There, Nature Removes It.
Early 2000 Decade, NC, Rt 220 & 74 Business, Driving A Freighshaker Straight Truck,
Some Clown Followed Me Into A Fuel Stop And Whined "How A (small) Rock Came From A Tire On The Truck And Struck His Driver Side Door".
Insignificant Ding On Driver Door Trim.
I Called The Company and They Said "We're Not Responsible For Rocks Leaving Tires Since We Do Not Haul Rocks"!!
Clown Had No Choice But To Whine, Wanted Some Money, So I Went To Cab And Got Tire Thumper To Offer Him A Few Dollars Worth Of Lumps. He Departed. -
I had a guy follow me into the Dollar General DC years ago with a story about a chunk of ice from my trailer damaging his windshield. I put him in touch with the company's claims department. Someone from safety called me the next day with a couple follow up questions and that was the last I heard of it. My record stayed clean and yours probably will too.
John Joel Glanton Thanks this. -
Thanks for the replies. Parked now. Had no choice but to call it in. I don’t have the guys number to negotiate with him direct. My company took all my info. Nothing more to do. Guess I’ll check my MVR in a few months to see if there’s anything on there. I hate winter.

A lot of times it's a straight shuck...just some clown wanting a quick cash payment for something that you didn't cause. We run rock trucks and we see that a lot. It's almost always a scam.
Never, ever, give them cash to go away.
If something is kicked up by a tire and your mud-flaps are legal you have no criminal or civil liability at all.WildTiger1990 and John Joel Glanton Thank this. -
Don't know why you are worried about your MVR. On there or not (It's unlikely to be) its the insurance database that will be where the information is relevant.
John Joel Glanton Thanks this.
