Once the instructors discovered I had no worried about DC traffic or Baltimore city crap but am afraid of the mountains near Cumberland, that was what I did every weekend in the last two months or so on school. I think maybe 2 hours on them driving up and down with a 73 transtar, no jake in sight and maybe 10K in the box. Just enough of a load to make it fun. By the time I was through that, and the first year with another trainer in GM Glass across WVa mountains in the first winter that was what I had become. A opposite of fear.

I need the day off Friday. I think I'm going to call my boss and tell him I can't make it in because of the humidity.

I appreciate your spirit. 3500 would be so motivating and done solo or team. It's all good.

But this newbie thinking 6 hours is too much work... well.. that's a bridge too far at the moment.

I hate to be a ####, but I recall this guys other post about failing the CDL test and still having to pay Prime. If this guy doesn't chill the #### out he's not going to make it.

Coover, lovesthedrive and Chinatown Thank this.

They'd say that you would never make it as a trucker if you didn't go to a mega and spend at least a year over the road. And that anyone who doesn't, wont make it in this industry. All of the moderators at that site work at megas so I think the bias is a little strong. Hell the guy that I think runs the site hasnt been a driver in like 20 years.

    I am curious as well.
Some times, you see some student complaining about how the trainer has them run their clock out and the trainer is in the sleeper and they operate the truck like a team truck. A 6 hour day is HALF a day. That is not a team truck run. And he didn't mention stops. Run 3 hours, stop and stretch your legs and do another 3. Easy peasy.

It sounds to me like your trainer is expecting you to D-R-I-V-E 300 miles a day. What is Prime expecting of you? If and when your trainer signs off on you and you get issued a truck, what is it that you are expected to do? Do you know? What was it that you wanted to hear in this forum? Perhaps I am missing something.
