As stated by another member, some will require 10 years to go past. Some have a lifetime ban on all felonies. However, you only need a letter of intent to hire, and that is not a guarantee of a job anyway.

since it is only a mini application like I asked about and you responded to, keep sending them out. You only need x number of letters to be returned to you, is that correct, and if so, how many do you need to make that requirement for the loan?

What you will have to do, when you meet that requirement, and you attnd schooling, my best advice would be to get the most months you can get for the money. For instance, if your particular loan says you can go for up to 6 months, then go 6 months, rather than to choose say maybe 3 months. This way, the longer you are in school eats away at the clock for that time line to get closer to being a non problem. However, if you can only go for say 3 months, as that is all the loan is good for, you can worry about a job then.

Also, you do not say when in 2006. Was it early 2006, like January, February, March? If so, you only have about a year to finish off that 10 year pass time. Say, it was January 2006, here it is ending 2014, you only have 1 year left to pass that 10 year point. If my math was correct.

But you need to remember the exact time in 2006, and someone else can say whether it is from date of conviction, or arrest? Anyone know how this works regarding the time?

Normally its from date of conviction. I would put down arrest date.

Get your cdl either way. Maybe dump trucks would work. I know companies do hire felons. CRST does , but its a bad company. Low pay and team driving. Most people say you need one to two years of experience to make a decent buck. Don't ever lease a truck from a starter company.
