Sadly, this is not as rare as you would think. I live in south west Florida and see this often. Folks, this is your competition in certain parts of the country, junkyard equipment no registration, no insurance, no dot compliance and the cost associated with compliance, willing to operate over weight and for a rate that barely covers cost. Welcome to the new America, got any more change in mind for us Mr Obama?

The next time someone asks why I suspended my authority and lease to mercer I'm gonna point them to this thread.

assuming youre serious & assuming you had insurance, registration, permits and get your truck and trailer in working order, figure out a rate the truck needs , and that you need to work and MAKE money not just work to work. The customer is telling you what hes willing to pay, but can you work and make a profit at the rate hes telling you hes willing to pay? If not, none of this matters, get your truck right and lease on to a good company .

O/O insurance goes up b/c of things like this. And freight rates are down b/c of guys like this. I was in Florida about 2 months ago, I was getting freight rates of 0.73$ a mile coming back to Nj area. Florida has always been a dead zone but .73$ a mile is brokers taking advantage of drivers, it's a real joke. I came out of Florida DH. Pickup in Georgia for 2.15$ a mile coming up. I knew going down this is what I would need to do so it was ok b/c my rate down makes up for the DH. But too many drivers are taking the .73$ a mile freight. Otherwise brokers wouldn't be even close to those rates. In 1985 I was bringing trucks out of Florida for 1.15$ and fuel was 1.05$. Nothing but low life drivers and companies driving the industry to where it is today. My hats off to you, thanks a bunch. And govt wants to give fuel tax breaks to guys like this to start their own operation. Haha this dude couldn't drive a nail and they want to give him a rig with 50,000 Ibs of freight in the box. Might as well put death wagon on the side of it so at least people on the road can avoid him.

All he can see is the cash....very foolish if this is true. Driver! Find a Landstar or Acme office and trip lease to them. Run your billing through them also and be legal.

What kind of a shipper pays cash every day ??? Even the shrimpers I pulled for paid by check once a week.

    Otherwise good luck.......

I want to thank the few of you who offered serious responses. I would have preferred the rest of you withhold your comments. If you really thought he was a troll, then why feed said troll?

Knock it off, people. This is TTR. We're better than that here.
