Because the DOT guy at the scale house may say "Why didn't you bother?"
Seriously, I made a mistake in using such a minimal overage in my example, which prevented you from seeing my point to the other poster.
I should have used, say, 34,900 or so. With a simple slide of the fifth wheel, that would transfer the ~900 excess to the steer axle, which started out being 10,800 lbs, +900 = 11,700 (still legal on steers).
missjhawk had stated that she/her company won't move the fifth wheel for this simple remedy, and instead, return to the shipper to have the load reworked.
I say... that's absurd.

Yea.....it's just the time you get nabbed and ticketed or shut down because you can't fix it that makes it the pitts.
-
yea sometime they will let you fix it with no ticket, But some people might not be as fortunate. It just depend on the people in the chicken coop. I got a ticket because the officer told me that I did not stop at the stop sign. although I had a green light and the truck in front of me didn't stop either. the but hole of officer threw light to red came to my truck opened my door for me. I still had my PJ's on caz I did not feel like putting jeans on it was 45 degree (IT WAS FREEKING COLD) he made me get out my truck no time to get coat. I had to walk to back of my truck and he talked to me like I was stupid. he asked me what that sign said I replied STOP. he threatened me several times with a ticket. when I asked could I go back and get my coat caz I was cold. he perceived that I was getting smart and give me a ticket. for nothing event though the truck in front of me didn't stop either. as far as telling the new driver to roll with loads that is clearly over on drives or tandems. its bogus because we as new truck drivers look to seasoned drivers to tell us the right way. just because things didn't happen to yall. it doesn't mean it want happen to us. its just like I used to hear drivers brag(talk) about how many miles they ran and many of them were illegal. they ran paper. I didn't get it. its not worth my license just for an extra mile. I had a electronic log truck and I ran more miles than many that were cheating with paper. on my very first load I could not get my pin disengaged to drop trailer. I had a old school driver take time out to teach me the right way. the main thing he told me to make sure I always have my weight right. and having a CDL is like a golden ticket in my wallet I am guaranteed a job if I do things correct. I just don't get why yall seasoned drivers tell us new drivers its ok to cheat. as long as you don't get caught -

I don't tell anyone to cheat.Just some veteran drivers know how to do it right where officers don't give them any static.
