Thanks all for the help. Man, I am on wits end here. My recruiter told me he'll know by Monday if I am accepted or not. This will be Monday the 18th to see if I start on the following Monday the 25th.
YES - I heard all the nightmares about CRE. But that's not my issue. My issue is I am nervous about whether or not they (or anyone else) will take me now on the count of this suspension.
Here's the deal again in a nutshell:
***I had my license suspended in Nevada for an unpaid ticket. I paid it and not it's no longer suspended. This was about 10 days ago now.
***I did, however, have a valid license in NY the whole time.
***The suspension was not over racking up points, but over an unpaid ticket that I got. A 2 pointer.
***My driving record other than that is pretty clean. Since 1995, I had only 2 tickets. A 2 pointer in 2000 and a 2 pointer in 2004 in Las Vegas that prompted my suspension.
That's it.
All I am asking is what you all might think about my chances of getting into the industry by a company that will pre-hire me, than train me, than put me to work.
Can anyone tell me what my chances are? It's going to kill me to have to wait until Monday.
And I don't care how bad it is. Right now, I want to get into the industry so bad that if Ebeneizer Scrooge owned a trucking company, I would gladly work for him with bells on my toes. If anything, I can leave after I put my time in. I'm willing to go through the torture if I have to. I'm desperate.
I am asking how these companies in general basically operate in regards to such suspensions. Do they look at a suspension as a suspension and that's that? Or do they see the difference between a suspension over an unpaid fine as opposed to a suspension over racking up a lot of points? When all is said and done, it was suspended over one lousy ticket - it's just that when I moved back home, it totally just slipped my mind with all the chaos going on in my life at the time - and I forgot about not ever paying it.
If CRE denies me, where else might I turn? Please? Any ideas???
Billy
Help! Someone please ease my mind on this! :(

Getting rdy to start school within a month and now have to deal with a suspended CDL outta Illinois. I've been told about this several times in the past, but now I have to take care of it.
The thing is is that it's been on my record since I was 15 yrs old. Not even sure that a person can get a CDL at age 15. Thankfully, it never prevented me from getting a regular license.
Anyways, I contacted Illinois and they say that it isn't a CDL, but that it just shows I'm revoked. He also said that it was too old to research and it was on microfilm or something.
Thankfully, all I have to do is pay a reinstatement fee that I can do with a credit card and it'll be clear in 3-5 days. So, I'm just gonna pay it. Sure is some BS though.
I had a choice between CRE, SWIFT or USA Truck. I chose SWIFT. I have a pretty bad MVR and they didn't seem to care. They were all old, but fairly bad. -
Wanted to add that it was when I applied for USA Truck that they brought up my suspension. They didn't seem to care based on the fact that I was also carrying a valid drivers license. They just wanted me to get it taken care of.
However, I've heard the worst stories from USA Truck and is why I chose SWIFT. Place to start, u know?
Also, SWIFT pulled my MVR, but didn't mention my suspension in Ill., but still gonna take care of it.
BTW your record is spotless compared to mine. The bulk of my tickets are from the years 95-97, but my main ones were a DUI in Dec 99 and a Driving While Suspended in 00.
I haven't had a ticket since June 00 though. Also, that suspended CDL I was talking about was from 1993 till current. That's a long suspension. -
Thanks...
I just can't wait until I know for sure from the recruiter. Once that happens, I'll be at ease - no matter what the answer is. I just want to know because I can always start sending applications in all over the place, but out of loyalty and consideration, I want to stick with my first choice - the guy spoke to me for about 45 minutes when I first called.
Regardless of the nightmare stories I hear about the company CR England - If they accept me, I'm stickin. -
Something that nobody has addressed here, concerning your ticket.
Depending on Nevada, and how they do things. You may have a CURRENT moving violation on your record.
Many states, mine included, do not actually put the actual violation on your MVR until you pay/plea. Up until you actually paid it, your DL's were simply suspended for failure to comply.
