If you are chasing mpg i would build cascadia with 12.7 or 14l pre 2000 , all depends what you haul but most of the guys would agree that properly tuned 12.7 at 500hp would more than enough for regular loads .
I used to have 2000 pete with 12.7 , after installing aftermarket turbo and tune it was running same as the truck with cat but stock + getting great mpg
Also had 2005 century with 12.7 egr , after deleting egr , installing pre egr turbo and tune - 7mpg all day long no mater what you load , was pulling on the 10th ( 10speed) all the way in pa pa i80 and back i76

From what you guys have said and some other research I’ve done the fuel mileage is pretty much where I’m at now +/- .2mpg With the info from you guys there are three trucks that I will be going going to look at.

    Option one
(Because it’s close and a really nice truck)
    2000 KW w900l
    Cat 3406E 475hp 350k on rebuild
    13sp/ 3.55/ 24.5

    Option 2
    1999 pet 379
    Cat 3406e 550hp 300k on rebuild
    13sp/3.58/24.5

    Option 3
    2000 pet 379 exhd
    Detroit rebuilt tranny/motor
    13sp/3.55/24.5

Contender but might be to heavy and a lot farther away from me. So it would cost more
    1999 kw w900l
    Cat 3406e 550hp motor work in 2018
    15sp/3.70/24.5

I will be checking these out with in the never few weeks as I book loads to the areas.

Never driven a long nose but from what I hear Peters steer better than KW any of you have exsperense with that?

Oh and I pull 79klbs reefer loads mainly produce

I drove a Pete 359 mixer that turned great and just had exceptional visibility for some reason.

I drove a 6 something KW that had the turning radius of a guided missile destroyer.

Hahaha there should really be a comment like button on forums. I actually just had to do some research on guided Missiles to see if they turn good or not. I’m assuming they turned pretty darn well haha

Any of those trucks listed aren't going to get the fuel mileage your current truck gets. You don't run a 379 or w9 with a big Cat because you're looking for fuel efficiency. Your Volvo will out mpg those other trucks by a mile. An ISX/13sp combo should net an easy 7mpg pulling a reefer. Hell I can get that kind of mileage out of an ISX/10sp pulling a flatbed. If you have the means to throw that kind of $ at a truck just because you dont like elogs, then by all means, its your $ to waste.

Your whole elog issue, well thats a you problem. Id bet dollars to donuts that every eld violation you were ticketed for was because you didn't follow the rules when it came to recording your HOS when your eld was having issues. Im basing this on the fact that you couldn't even post this thread in the right sub-forum.
