I like the ELD.
Roberts450, Studebaker Hawk and Just passing by Thank this. -
It's been a law on the books for some time now, compliance date is all we're waiting on now. I don't see Trump or anyone else repealing it. Like it or not, everyone has to deal with it.

Nope.Just passing by and Midnightrider909 Thank this.

I go all the way back from the time of the old 8 and 10 Hour rule. So I have run paper logs for year. Back when very few companies even knew what a ELD was. I have run produce to flatbed, to pure scap paper. I have been on ELD's for the past several years and at first like everyone else I thought no way..... this is gonna suck. But now , not even if I had a choice you couldn't pay me to go back to a paper log. In my opinion what will have to change is not the drivers habits but the operation and logistics of several companies that pushed the driver to do things he/she wouldn't or shouldn't have to do in order to make a delivery/ pickup on time without their paycheck suffering. With that being said the only issue I have with the ELD is the 14 Hour clock. Not that that is a issue for me so much any more. Call me lazy or whatever, but who wants to be on the clock more then 14 Hours a day anyway when your not compensated for all that time anyway. Again Just my opinion but the only change you will see is going to be operationally and logistically with certain flybynight outlaw companies who can't make it by doing it right. They will either have to comply or close up shop. $58k last year on ELD. Looking at 71k this year on ELD. So the can't make money doing it legally excuse is blown out of the water.
Ok I'm ready to get beat to death over this one... So go ahead let's have it.... wait let me put on my helmet. Ok I'm ready.OPUS 7, peterd, Midnightrider909 and 3 others Thank this. -
I completely agree. I made more money on elds than paper.OPUS 7 and Just passing by Thank this.

I understand the not wanting to be forced on them so I sign them based on that reason only. But I get sick of hearing the stupid arguments that I need a babysitter, or my hand held by a computer. Or that some how I'm not a real driver because I have one. I make a decent paycheck, yeah sometimes I'd like the so called flexibility of a paper log, but all that flexibility is, is falsification.
Oh and no I'm not more tired on them, I stop when I need to, I rest when I'm tired.JimmyWells, peterd and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
And in my experience, having dealt with my share of dot officers, when I was on paper got my log book inspected everytime. Went to elds, not one office wanted the hassle of pulling them up. Just told them Im on elds, they said ok, thats fine.Gunner75 Thanks this.
