Divide the days you have to deliver by the total actual miles. Pick a conservative, realistic average speed. Add extra time for road construction, breakdowns, inspections.. Then take a 34 hour restart. Drive slow and steady, be safe and enjoy the ride. If it's going to be a late delivery, let dispatch know. Take control of your driving day, it's your driving record and career at stake.
Don't party at home for 34 hours then try to race to make the del appointment, it won't end well.

Well I took the poll before reading the post, so I voted recap. I'm not a big fan of reset unless it's forced on me. It may not be the best for your particular situation though. In addition, it becomes more favorable if you can take it at home. I'd still go recap unless I was wanting or needing home time.
I will always choose recap and skip reset. It works much better if you can keep the hours more uniform though. My goal is to run the miles with recap while on the road and take time off when I can or need.American-Trucker and Meltom Thank this. -
Be creative & get it there on Tuesday.
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
Pop some bennies, pee out the window and get it there tomorrow.
Lol... kidding... I vote for the reset. I run like my *** is on fire for 5 days and then sit at home on the weekend. It's the only way to fly.American-Trucker and Hammer166 Thank this. -
I wonder how many under 35 or so voted re-cap;and over re-set? Bet there is a trend here..
-
That may well be. I'll also bet there would be a trend associated with when you entered the industry.
Being old and old-school, I'm all about recap and keeping the wheels rolling. That said, I wouldn't object to doing a 34 at home every weekend either. To me a re-set anywhere but home is a concept that completely escapes my comprehension.
If that is all I have to chose from, I'm not interested. Run or spend time at home. I can live with 24 off to recharge wherever that falls. But I'm not driving to tour the country and hang out.Boardhauler Thanks this. -
if you have nobody at home or no reason to be home then recap it there...better yet AT find a pretty lil gal, get her a cdl and get everywhere in half the time(with benefits)
Yodler Thanks this. -
