Your gonna find yourself sitting at a weigh station out of service and looking at some big fines taking that advice,..

The dot loves to check one tons pulling a wedge anytime they see them,....Many guys try to run them without dot numbers or authority and get into BIG trouble,....

And besides if sleeping in the backseat of a pickup is what you consider proper rest I don't want to share the road with you!!!

we tried doing the 3 car gig before and it sucks ... like someone said before you get the same expenses as a 10 car hauler... the dot tends to mess with you all the time with those too

if you do decide to go with the carhauling buy a 4 car Kaufman trailer -- i like those you can fit big cars on it, the only negative thing is that is 3 axle
and put a winch on it

I would definitely listen to fishy boy and brick... they know what they are talking about.
Also... if you plan on sleeping in the back that truck, then taking over driving on that "quality" of rest... please rethink it... seriously.
I don't want to lose somebody I care about do to your lack of rest, and I would certainly hate to hear somebody lost their life due to it. One thing you definitely gotta consider is that you can change another person's life in a split second... not to mention lose your own.

There are 3 ways to log in a truck that's in operation . Driving , sleeper berth , and on duty , not driving . Since the truck lacks a legal sleeper berth the time in the back seat is on duty , not driving .

I agree with you 100% and that is why i am asking these questions, as I am sure you all have children and so do I and getting home safely to them each and every week is my number 1 goal. And that is why I am asking the questions(although they might seem stupid to you but very informative for me).

I have read a lot of negative on the tri-axles, a lot about the center axle going out, and the wear on the tires to be more than if you went with a dual 10k axle with dually's on it.

Does any body haul trailers, I have found several wedges with the trailer package and am wondering if its worth the extra money to get that package?

that is what I am trying to avoid... We are currently getting our DOT and our Authority, waiting for all the insurance quotes to get back to complete.

A 3 car hauler is a lot of load for a 1 ton . Do you have a Class A CDL ? A 1 ton is rated at close to 23,000 GCWR . Most 3 car loads will put you over 26,000 lbs.
You're fantasizing running nonstop with a 3 car hauler . The loads aren't there . Many experienced o/o's sit waiting for loads .
You're better off with a 48' stepdeck instead of a wedge . Why limit yourself to auto transport ?

Currently studding for my Class A CDL. Hoping to be able to test by the end of the year.

We currently have a 36' Tri-axle Lowboy that we use in our landscaping business. We have only ran locally for our biz and didn't think about taking that one out on the road. Besides auto transport is there a lot of loads for a small rig like mine. I would think that the big rigs would have that wrapped up.

There's a lot of loads . Problem is not many pay much . I know a hotshotting family with 3 trucks that has been hauling more autos than anything else lately . It takes a while to get known and get good jobs . I know haulers doing well hauling antiques and classics to shows and to and from auctions .
