I have lived in more than a dozen countries, I never said most or even many speak English. I said many speak multiple languages. Why not us? Arrogance?

 

Nope. Culture more than arrogance. Along with a crappy public school system.

 

Tend toward the dramatic? No one said they should learn our language "instantaneously" and no one expects everyone should adapt to us. But if you want to be here you should adapt and if we expect to live in another country we should expect to adapt to them. I can't imagine moving to a foreign country and demanding they learn my language. To me it's common sense.

 

Im guessing he's running the border towns for those asking why he's asking if he runs the states. When i get to the shipper or receiver down there the first question I ask is...english? Three questions later I know what to do.

So just so I'm clear, you lived in another country and made an effort to learn their language? You didn't insist they learn English? Interesting.
