Teams pay better because most people don't want to do it. The truck never stops, or very seldom. You have to learn to trust your co-driver enough to sleep, I tried it for alittle while, couldn't do it. The only time I felt I could sleep was when I was driving. (scary thought). I was a CDL instructor and most of these guys were all visiting my students. Werner's gonna run your tail off for not much money, I think you have to run with a trainer for 8 or 10 weeks, drive me nuts. Schneider's OK for new drivers, you'll be on your own sooner, plus they never stop training you. They've got nice facilities all over the country, seem like they take pretty good care of their drivers. (I was an owner-operator there, but their company drivers seemed pretty happy) Last I heard, they were only running teams west of the rockies, so living in California I don't know what your options would be. Roehl's a pretty good company from what I've heard, they pay practical miles as apposed to household movers guide ( means about 5% more to you), but they can actually be hard to get into. (picky) Good Luck where ever you end up!

Working with a trainer is like any other job where you are in close proximity with anther person. Sometimes you just don't like the guy. Most of the time he's ok. If you seriously dislike your trainer then do not be afraid to ask the company for another. First talk to the guy, maybe he is doing something that he dosn't know bugs you. remember, it's only for a few weeks. Unless he is a serious jack*** or dangerous I'd just put up with it.

Thanks to all of you! I think I will still apply at Schneider an Gordon and then go from there. The trainer thing is something that will come and go as time flies! Really would like to be home more but I hear it`s almost impossible for a rookie.

Which is what seems strange to me, since decades ago a lot of us cut our teeth in local jobs first.
