AAA Cooper is not a bad company to start out with locally. The hourly rate is good but they pay not overtime. Everything you earn is all straight time at that same rate. The insurance is sucks, but if you are in good health and aren't in need in any major medical care, you will be fine. The insurance is cheap but you get what you pay for. The vacation policy sucks as you only get 1 week after your first year, no personal time but you do get sick time but you can only use your sick time after you have missed six days of unpaid leave. You will get hours there and make some money just because they do not have to pay overtime. Many of the employees at AAA Cooper have gone to other LTL companies such as Southeastern, Old Dominion, and FedEx just because some of them offer overtime and better benefits. FedEx Freight is really good to work for. You won't make as much starting out there but they pay overtime after 8 hours. The bad thing about the overtime though is that they will limit what you can work just so that way they don't have to pay the overtime. So if you are not in need financially and prefer the better work life balance, go with FedEx Freight. At AAA Cooper, you will make money, but you will also work between 60 and 70 hours a week, with most days being over 12 hours. Good luck with your decision.
